What got 15 year old Marta Cristina brutally murdered?



It is most likely because her father, Hector Montenegro, is running for mayor. He belongs to the UNE party also known as the National Union of Hope.

Out of 38 people killed in political reasons, UNE has lost the most at 17. Indigenous parties and other parties that are left wing are also being attacked.

1. Actually, it's persecution of people who are left of right-wing.

Guatemala was where a lot of the conquistadors moved to after the Spanish Crown instituted the New Laws of the Indies which gave the indigenous population some rights and protections, at least in theory.

Slavery continued to be quasi-legal there up into the 1950s. It is truely one of the most hard core right-wing countries in Latin America non-stop since the mid 1500s, with the exception of a couple of years in the late 1950s.
