Lieberman Statement on Gonzales Resignation (deserves our appreciation for his work)
Lieberman Statement on Gonzales Resignation

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Senator Joe Lieberman (ID-CT) made the following statement today in response to the resignation of Attorney General Alberto Gonzales:

"The Attorney General's resignation removes a distraction from the important work of the Department of Justice, and it provides President Bush with an opportunity to appoint an individual who can restore confidence. As he leaves public service, the Attorney General deserves our appreciation for his work for our nation.

"We are at war, and it is imperative that we have an Attorney General that inspires trust. Once the President nominates a replacement for the Attorney General, I would hope that the Senate would move quickly in a bi-partisan manner to consider the new nominee."

6. Can *any* Bush appointment restore confidence?
Rhetorical question, as the answer is quite obvious. :eyes:

10. when Lieberman was one of the 5 or 6 dems to confirm Gonzales
he praised Alberto's "independence of spirit":

...He has many outstanding qualities. I don't know if others have mentioned in this debate, but he has a certain independence of spirit, which I don't think has been much-commented on. I remember reading in the press a moment ago when his name was mentioned as a potential nominee to the Supreme Court that some people felt that he wasn't a likely nominee because there were people -- and I’ll be explicit – in the Republican Party who thought he had a little too much independence on some issues that were central. I think that should be remembered as we cast the vote....

15. Could Lieberputz
be more out of touch with reality? Don't answer, LOL! I sent him this FAX, wonder if his staff has balls enough to show it to him?
Public servant Lieberman, this quote from your press release * begs the question: Have you been asleep or are you just plain ignorant? Mr Gonzales has done NOTHING for our nation and has focused his full attention on being the White House and Presidents personal attorney deserving nothing but scorn for his politicizing and corrupting the Department of Justice from "we the people"! * " As he leaves public service, the Attorney General deserves our appreciation for his work for our nation."
