Theories, anyone?
Edited on Mon Aug-27-07 06:22 PM by Laura PackYourBags
Parisites don't just walk away - unless they have to. Rove and Gonzales - the biggest hangers-on in the business.

Why? If they're afraid of prosecution - why not stay where you have a better shot at hiding behind executive privilege

Coincidences don't happen in this (B)administration.

Something is rotten in Denmark and I wanna know what it is....

1. Where is Rummy and Rove and now Gonzo?
Do they still see each other or correspond? Anyone know?

My guess:
Getting the Mother ship ready.

4. Yikes ! After all the lying he's done for them - they would
throw him to the wolves to distract from Craig?

12. maybe it's kind of the opposite. They knew the Craig deal was
coming - and they knew it would take over the news and they wouldn't be able to stop that - great time to slip in a resignation.

6. The resignations of these "officers"
could not have been specifically foreseen, but at least some of Bush's Cabinet was expected to resign by this week. Otherwise, they would be forced to ride out the next 17 months of dwelling on their own failures.

14. How is this a coincidence?
Even the guy's own mother knows he's a liar. He's a huge liability for the GOP. It makes sense for him to quietly resign while Congress is on vacation.

16. Gonzales doesn't strike me as someone who would actually
hang out with Rove. More of just a pawn - not a player.

But, I like your theory about a shadow gov't.

18. EVERYTHING is rotten in this particular Denmark.
You don't get a high-level Bush appointment without being corrupt, since by definition your job will entail covering up corruption.

They hire made men.

21. My question as well!

Got me wondering if this is a pre-emptive move in the cover up, or is it an out of sight out of mind thing?

I'm puzzled, I can't see the strategery in these moves.

What the hell ever happened to "phase two" I don't even remember which that one as about there's been so much shit thrown.

The question is, can say Italy turn tit for tat and deliver Gonzo and Rummy to the ICC?

22. I wonder if Bush realizes he might've destroyed the GOP for good
and now he's trying to make a few small pathetic attempts to save the party from the abyss of hell, where it will surely end up.

Although in his case his health may be a legitimate factor. But something tells me he'll be glad to get away from the Boosh Crime Family.

25. You want a theory? Ok. There's less than 18 months left before the next election
Cabinet members and top advisors leaving an administration in its final 18 months is nothing new. Happens all the time. (For example, Ed Meese resigned as Reagan's AG in July 1998, around the 18 month mark; around the same time, Howard Baker resigned as Reagan's chief of staff. During Clinton's final 18 months in office, Erskine Bowles left as Chief of Staff and a couple of other cabinet members departed as well.)

The reasons people leave are varied, but generally there is little that can/will be accomplished in the final months of an administration, particularly with the opposition party controlling Congress and therefore little reason to stick around. Plus, rove and gonzales are easy targets for the Democrats running in 2008, so getting out now, before the campaigning starts in earnest, is a move to try to neutralize (or at least reduce the impact of) Democratic attacks during the campaign.
