This almost begs for someone to use modern videotape and editing tech and film their own version of
The Day The Clown Cried. It wouldn't and couldn't make money, but it would be extremely illustrative. And it would be even better if a Jerry Lewis impersonator played the part of the clown.

The Jet Benny Show, where a Jack Benny impersonator did a Star Wars ripoff with Benny, and a robotic Rochester, playing the main parts.
The Day the Clown Cried - The Remake would be a genuine delight.)
