Poll question: What type of internet connection do you usually use to connect to DU, or the Web in general?

The first 4 choices are for those who use the internet primarily at home.

2. speed test results

941K upload

And I remember when I had 128K dual channel ISDN...it was the fastest connection on the block. We've come a long way in a few short years.

12. Speed Demon!
That is one fast connection you have!

I moved in the fall and left my dial-up behind. I can't believe how much quicker I do things at home:

16. my neighborhood was upgraded a couple of months back
I was getting somewhere around 5mbps down. The ISP has been plagued with problems recently, outages and the like. Their CEO has been apologizing on radio spots. So I think they rolled out higher speed connections to everyone in an attempt to receive forgiveness from their customers. Whatever the case, I'm glad to have this really fast connection.

4. I am forced to use satelite.
No other options exist other than dial up. My dial up connection averaged 21kbps on a good day.
It is a trade-off. A slower (broadband) speed or live in an urban/suburban area. I really hate being around a lot of people so I suffer a little bit of Internet speed for peace and quiet.

19. nextel wireless modem
depends on from where I am posting as to whether it is slower or faster than cable. When at home during the week - it is as fast (maybe faster) than my old cable connection. On the weekends in a community that does not yet have the same infrastrucutre - slower than cable but much faster than dial up.

9. We are forced to us dial up. Pawlenty promised that all in MN
would get DSL but it seems to have stalled right at the edge of the reservation I live on. I think they think most of us do not have computers so we don't need it. That means that I cannot watch most of the videos on DU and that load time is always long. We are very mad out here. Calling Qwest every day. Even looking into HughesNet but that is too expensive.

13. Dialup here.
And in fact, I have no trouble with DU on dialup, even the Toon threads. I AM having issues around the internet (and on DU) with more and more links and references pointing to youtube and other videos. No way that's working on dialup (especially since my speakers don't work anymore). Also, I'm getting annoyed about the increasing number of sites that when I go to them, without fail, the little gray box pops up asking me to accept the installation of FLASH (puke).

18. Yeah, although I actually enjoy some of the Slowski stuff.
We also have one where a couple breaks open their "high speed" to help clean up after a party.
