Idaho authorities confirm arrest warrant for Senator Larry Craig's daughter

When Senator Larry Craig's daughter went public on ABC's Good Morning America to defend her father, she may have gotten a bit more publicity than she bargained for.

Following the show's airing, a reader of Idaho's Boise Guardian tipped the website that there was a warrant for Shae Suzanne Howell's arrest.

"We checked with officials at the jail and according to their records the contempt of court warrant is active," the Guardian reported. "Chances are she may not have been aware of the warrant and until she became a television personality, few people (including the coppers) linked her name to Craig."

The ABC News blog Political Punch says the appearance may have reawakened Idaho authorities' interest in the case, reporting yesterday that Howell was charged with "unlawful entry" and "malicious entry to property" in November of 2006, according to Boise's Ada County Courthouse.

3. I need more details about what happened before I can make any judgements.

Could be that she's a really cruddy person, or it could be not really that big of a deal. Hard to tell without more information, and I'm certainly not going to let who her father is effect my judgments about her.

Larry Craig, R-Idaho, his children Michael Craig and Shae Howell spoke to ABC News' "Good Morning America" this week to testify that their father isn't gay and was not in fact guilty of the lewd conduct for which he was arrested.

Michael Craig said his father was simply "a victim of circumstance" who was "in the wrong place at the wrong time."

But the criminal records of Michael Craig and his sister, whom Sen. Craig adopted after marrying their mother, Suzanne, in 1983, not only call into question their credibility as character witnesses but may even further undermine Craig's portrayal of himself as a defender of family values.

At least two women have sought restraining orders against Michael Craig, who was once charged with statutory rape, though the charge was dismissed. He did not return a call for comment. And at the time of Howell's appearance on "Good Morning America" there was a warrant out for her arrest resulting from her allegedly breaking into her estranged husband's home and destroying property.

Sen Craig's response to the charges against the son was, basically, that it is not easy raising teenagers.

I raised a son through the teenage years and I really, really don't recall any problems with stat rape charges or him perpetrating violence on anyone ~~ particularly any females ~~ to the point that his actions required a court restraining order.

Ummmmm....maybe it is just me....but that is NOT in my book typical behavior in the teen years!

I was just reading this week about the tendency of Conservatives to compartmentalize things--that is, to not get the connection between one thing and the other.
