Anyone watching the "as it happens" on MSNBC?
Edited on Tue Sep-11-07 09:39 PM by burythehatchet
on edit: "as it happens" - the news coverage as it appeared on 9/11/01

Kind of bizarre and surreal. One interesting thing I picked up, one reporter said that a spokesperson for the "intelligence community" said "there was no warning of something like this". Made me wonder, why make that statement, especially if its patently untrue.

7. This is the first
'anniversary' ;>( that I've been able to watch. It's still painful for all of us, I'm sure.

8. Just as I observed when it happened that day, * was just too staid

when he made his statement like he was not surprised because he was in on it. I will always believe that.

He was only shocked that both towers fell - they didn't plan on that.

Edit to add: It was very strange that within hours of the hit, Bush was announcing compensation for the victims and their families. Why would he do that if he wasn't reading an advanced prepared statement?

10. I noticed that too!!!
Why wouldn't they have heard or seen a plane??? I know people who lived in midtown Manhattan and they heard a plane flying low from where they were and said it was really loud...

Strange...

It is still heartbreaking to watch this all unfold...especially being from NY...

13. umm....
the reporter who was in the building and being interviewed wasn't right there to see it.

He didn't see the plane, so he didn't report that it was a plane.

The notion that a plane DIDN'T hit the Pentagon is just silly.

15. Really?
This is the Pentagon. There are people there. There are lots of people there. There are lots of security guards there. When a jumbo jet hits a building, I tend to believe that at least a few people might actually see it. You are correct, the reporter didn't see it. But neither did any of the other passers-by. At least one reporter said on that day, while reporting live from the pentagon that it looked like a missle. People just heard an explosion.

Now, I choose to rely on lessons learned regarding what the White House says. I don't believe them. It sort of surprises me when people here choose to take their word at face value.
