One of my Brother's friends was killed in Iraq last weekend...
He was 23...

LEYDEN - A 23-year-old soldier who is a town native was killed last weekend in a truck accident in Iraq.

The parents of Ari D. Brown-Weeks, who turned 23 a month ago, have been notified of their son's death by the military, said his father, Jon Weeks. His mother is Karyn Brown.

The family first learned of Brown-Weeks death from his wife, Ashley, who lives in Abbington, Md. Later today, they will travel to Pennsylvania to pick up Brown-Weeks' grandparents and take them to Abbington where the funeral will be held, Weeks said.

Brown-Weeks was in the U.S. Army's 82nd Airborne Division, which is based in Fort Bragg, N.C. While in this area, he attended Greenfield Center School, Winchenden School and Pioneer Valley Regional High School in Northfield and obtained his GED, Weeks said.

I grew up in Leyden, tiny close knit town...sigh. :(

3. We apparently have DUers who think he deserved it.
Any sympathy or mourning of his passing is apparently regarded as "war glorifying troop worship bullshit."

As a Viet Nam veteran, I've heard that before.

My deepest sympathies go out to his family. We are terribly diminished by this ongoing atrocity ... and we lose more of our honor as a people with every passing day.

4. There sure are a lot of trucks accidents as of late
Not to say that this incident in particular was not a truck accident, but I am beginning to wonder if all of these recent truck accidents had an IED involved, but they are not reported as hostile because of the neccessity of the Betrayus report book cooking.

Just like the back of the head vs. front of the head reporting of Iraqi casualties.
