Priest accused of spending $300,000 of parishioner's money
A popular Catholic priest was relieved of his duties at a local church amid allegations that he spent hundreds of thousands of dollars of an elderly parishioner's money.

The Rev. William Kenny was relieved of his day-to-day duties as pastor of Christ the King Catholic Community by the Diocese of Las Vegas on Friday "to deal with personal issues," according to Rachel Wilkinson, a spokeswoman for the diocese who works for Rogich Communications...

...Kenny, 62, sought control of Kochansky's finances in 1996 and, over the course of several years, spent more than $300,000 of her money for his personal use, according to family member Douglas Bair, Kochansky's son-in-law.

The Review-Journal asked Kenny about the lawsuit Tuesday in his office at Christ the King church on Torrey Pines near Tropicana Avenue. "How can you possibly do this story?" a trembling Kenny asked. "The case is sealed."
