One more time--Draft Gore! Why the effort itself makes sense, regardless of result:
http://www.draftgore.com/

It's about an ad in the NYT.

Here's my thinking:

First, it would be a wonderful dream come true if Gore were to step into the race. I have no doubt he'd walk away with the nomination, and would collect an un-jiggerable majority in the General Election.

But even if he doesn't run, this ad will speak volumes, and its volume gets turned up a little with each contribution, because it is a clear statement that a whole lot of people are not happy with the current crop of front runners. It's an expression of our general discontent with the DLC, Republican Light "mainstream" candidates with their War-til-2013, weak-environmentalist, corporate-pandering, Let's-Bomb-Iran, Murky-Health-Care-Solutions, Change-is-off-the-table, Stenyite, "First-we-gotta-get-elected," go-for-the-center positions and strategies.

Yeah, yeah, Kucinich. But he won't be PERMITTED to win the nomination, let alone the general election. And you know damn well what I mean.

Gore doesn't NEED permission. I think maybe he's the only person in America who doesn't need the permission of the Corporate Press to become President.

So I'm donating to the Draft Gore fund. Again.

First because I want Gore as President.
Second because I want the DLC to know how pissed I am.
And third because it simply seems like the most effective thing it's in my power to do right now.

1. I would be happy to hear that Al was going to run,
but I'm going to be glad when the deadline passes. That will put an end to all the speculation.

3. They care.

And when they know that your money is NOT going to them, they care a lot more. Which is what I tell them every time they or the DNC calls begging for cash these days.

5. Your statement about Kucinich
is perfectly correct:

It is not that Kucinich is "unelectable", it is that he will not be PERMITTED to win!

9. Can someone explain why
people think he'd walk away with the nomination?

He has no money raised, no organization in the important states, and a recent poll including him only put his support at 12%, well behind Clinton and Obama and about tied with Edwards, as I recall.

I love Gore. I just don't understand why people think the nomination is his for the asking. Personally, I think if he ran, he'd lose.

10. Walk away may be a little strong.
He would rapidly ascend into the thick of things though.

11. But why do you think that?
What evidence is there?
