AL Prosecutors seek to garnish Siegelman investments
The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Alabama has asked a federal court to garnish investments made by former Alabama Gov. Don Siegelman to collect a $50,000 fine.

The government seeks the money from approximately $225,000 Siegelman has deposited in three mutual funds with Sterne, Agee & Leach Inc. in Birmingham.

"If there's sufficient funds available to satisfy the judgment and fine, of course we'd like to have it all up front," said Rand Neeley, an assistant U.S. attorney who filed the writ of garnishment with the federal court in Montgomery. "In the Siegelman case, the order imposing the fine orders it be paid immediately."

1. Because they ARE the LAW in Alabama. For now, anyway. They could go to jail too!
