YIKES! 15 minutes ago I saw,for the 1st time in my life a"Support our troop" Yellow ribbon on a car!
Now that you cliqued and saw my avatar, you understand my surprise.

Of course it was about our troops in Afghanistan but after reading about those ribbons for years

here on DU...

I had a shock when I saw this. And even more surprising,it was written in English and I live in

Quebec in a region where most peoples speak French.

I'm a bit confuse...

Are we being Freeped or Bushasised ? Harperooned?

Of course I support the kids in Afghanistan but the sight of that ribbon is puzzling me...

Please give me your opinion.

3. Back in the first gulf war we tied a ribbon on the tree when a family member was over there.
I had one when my brother was there. To me and to everyone I knew it simply meant "someone we love is in harms way and we want them home safe". When he got back the ribbon came down. He is back there again 17 years later. I know the timeline because my just turned 17 year old daughter was 6 weeks old the first time he left. We have not put the yellow ribbon back up this time.

The RW has stolen a symbol of love and turned it into a symbol of hate and support of war.

I am holding my breath until I can take down my now invisible Yellow Ribbon again.

5. Support the troops not the policy. We don't know what is in the owner's
heart. He could be a war hawk, or he could be genuinely concerned about the troops in Afghanistan. With the Taliban coming back strong, we should be concerned for our troops.

Back in 04 a friend of mine stole one off a Caddy and put it on my car. It worked well with my solid Dem bumper stickers and my Veteran license plate. It confuses the hell out of the freepers.

14. I agree,
And Harper is in a minority government.

Recently I received in my mail a pamphlet from an other

political party that said: If Harper doesn't call back the troops

before (I forgot the date but it was early 2009)then the Conservative party is toast.(Paraphrasing)

8. Your government and culture
seem to be shifting to the right.

I would love to see more backlash against the crimes of the Bush regime from our neighbors to the north. But alas, I fear that a booming energy economy and an increasingly lapdog media mean it will only get worse in Canada before it gets better.

I hope I'm wrong.

But it's not just Canada that seem to be shifting to the right.

Look at France who elected Sarkozy! That guy will make Bushler forget

about Blair really fast.Hey:ButtFrench-Kissing! Who could ask for anything more ?

in the shape of a ribbon magnet. stripped the paint job right off the tailgate. HA-HA! serves you right for your empty jingoistic gesture. Next time support the troops by leaving the gas guzzler at home.
