Special Election in MA 05 a wake up call for Dems?
I just saw this on Daily Kos. There is a special election in MA congressional district 05--a strongly democratic district and yet a new poll from Survey USA shows the Democratic candidate Niki Tsongas leading the GOP candidate by only 51-42 percent. Kos speculates that it could be a "wake up call" for Democrats from the base because they are upset about how the dems in Washington aren't doing enough to oppose Bush and the war.

This is a district that has always been solidly democratic and by wide margins (Martin Meehan's district I think).

If Dems win this one by a close margin it could be a clear representation that the base may retaliate against the party in '08?

1. Here are the comments of BlueMassGroup concerning the poll and the race.

My guess is that they are better informed than kos.

In addition, this is a special election, so few people go to vote. The major risk is that people think the election is assured and do not go to vote, not whatever retaliation.

2. I personally think that after 8 years of bush if any democrat
does not vote a democratic ticket, then they should be kicked out of the party. No matter what republican wins. The candidates they have now are bush ass kissers and would do the same and even worst than bush has done.

I THINK THEY SHOULD WAKE THE HELL UP...ALL THE WAY...and not the wrangling crap about not voting democrat.
