The men and women laying their lives on the line over there, for a pack of lies, hypocrisy, and greed, must not be shoved aside from our consciousness. We need to listen to them, hear their voices, share thier feelings and experiences, their pains and their triumphs (even if it's only the triumph of staying alive another day.)

It's so easy for those of us who don't have a family member or close friend to segregate ourselves from the anxiety and hope that their families and friends feel every day. It's so easy for us here to remain unconscious of the unnerving version of reality that confronts those men and women in uniform every day. We can't share it, but at least we can listen.
