Bush quips during presser that he might stay in power.
http://blog.wired.com/27bstroke6/2007/10/bush-quip-might.html

At a press briefing this morning that touched on issues like the White House's extrajudicial wiretapping program and torture policies, the president was asked a question about Vladimir Putin's plan to hold on to power when his term as Russian president runs out.

Reporter: Mr. President, following up on Vladimir Putin for a moment, he said recently that next year, when he has to step down according to the constitution, as the president, he may become prime minister; in effect keeping power and dashing any hopes for a genuine democratic transition there ...

Bush: I've been planning that myself.

Ahahahahaha. That's funny. It's a great comedian who can give voice to what everyone else is just thinking.

(end snip)

Funny, he couldn't plan to get out of Iraq or Afghanistan, he couldn't plan for New Orleans, he couldn't plan for children's health, but he can plan for the final flush of the constitution.

...the "Things would be a heck of a lot easier if this were a dictatorship - so long as I'm the dictator" crack he made a few years back.

22. No. The joke is on anyone who actually believes
he'll be in the White House after the morning January 20th, 2009.

I don't even think he WANTS to stay on. Now cheney, that's another story- but he's going too.

7. I really wonder what would happen if he tried
Would the GOP back him? Would the Democrats fold? Would the armed forces go along with it? What would happen to the protestors who I'm sure would march in the streets?

17. How about Hillary Clinton's quip
about Bill being her v-p? "I assure you, he's looked into it."

And I think Clinton also made a similar joke about wanting to be able to run again.

Nonetheless, whether we like Bush's sense of humor or not, this is just a joke. It doesn't mean he's going to appoint himself dictator.

24. He has a lousy sense of humor
but we'll have a new President in 2009.

You tinfoilers have said the last three elections would be canceled. You were wrong.

You tinfoilers have pedicted martial law for the last 7 years. You were wrong.

You tinfoilers have predicted an invasion of Iraq for the last year. You were wrong.

Doesn't it get tiring?
