Bush Dog Democrats. Just heard on CSPAN Washington Journal LOL
A woman just called in and took Chris Van Hollen to trask for the DCCC shunting progressive Democrats aside in the 2004 Democratic primaries for house and senate. She told it like it appears.

Bush dog Democrats indeed.

8. I did not call Chris Van Hollen a Bush dog democrat but he did defend Rahm Emmanuel
after the woman said that Emmanual shunted progressives out of contention for primaries by supporting the more coservative candidates.

3. Chris Van Hollen is part of the Congressional Progressive Caucus
and hardly a bush dog. Do facts matter?

4. Does he belong to the DCCC?
If he is representing them on TV, then he does indeed get to listen to criticism about them.

6. Did I say he shouldn't have to listen to criticism? Great straw man
I said he's not a bush dog democrat, as the OP claimed.

5. ...and there are a lot of them
In the Senate, nearly half of the Democrats vote with Bush's policies more than 50% of the time when they cone to the floor for passage...and they rubber-stamp most of his nominations, as well.

In the House, there are about 70 Democrats who do the same.

They are Bush-supporting Democrats, and they still expect progressives like you and me to vote for them.

It's an abusive relationship that I want no part of.

7. Chris is my congressman
I worked on his initial campaign to take the Maryland 8th District seat from a long-time Republican.

I am now completely disgusted with him. Back in August he mouthed the official Nancy Pelosi line that impeachment would be a waste of time and resources.

Hello Chris? You out there? We want you and the other bushdogs to stop cringing and stand up for our Constitution, for heaven's sake.

A DUer on this very thread says he is not a Bush dog Dem! :)

Gee I wonder who would know more - one of his constituents OR a DUer who is not a constituent. Hmmm.

14. Chris SAYS he is progressive
and he does vote fairly liberally for the most part,

but I'd characterize him as one of Nancy's lapdogs.

I know there are pockets, but there also seems to be a lot of rich people there.

fit the Bush Dog Democrat model for defending the practice of shunting progressives out of primaries or making them lose because the DCCC funded the conservative and not the progressive.
