Sign Chris Dodd's petition. He is standing up to Bush...
...and opposing retroactive immunity for phone companies which violated our privacy by giving our records to Bush officials without a warrant:

3. It means he, like Kucinich, is actually doing
something to protect the Constitution, instead of just talking about it.

4. At least 3 other posts on this. Please keep all kicked
and recommend.

It is vitally important that we stand with Senator Dodd as he works to defend our Constitution.

6. I won't sign a goddman thing this hypocrite puts out, until he publicly apologies
to the American people for his part in destroying our election system, by turning it over to rightwing Bushite electronic voting corporations, to be run on 'TRADE SECRET,' PROPRIETARY programming code, with virtually no audit/recount controls. That's what Christopher Dodd did to us, with his good buds Tom Delay and Bob Ney. Dodd's leftist views are nothing but hot air. He is a shill for the global corporate predators. Support him at your peril. At least with Hillary, we can see what she is. Dodd is worse. He is a fascist in drag.

9. I'll consider your arguments...
...but I don't think that signing this petition endorses Chris Dodd for President or excuses any past failings. I can be with him - and praise him - on this one without aligning with 100% of his views.

10. You think that transparent vote counting is just another issue?
Transparent vote counting is the whole ballgame.

12. I had forgotten about Chris Dodd's support of electronic voting.
But I don't consider that petition to endorse his position on electronic voting, and I'm still glad I signed it.

14. I agree with your facts but not your sentiment about Dodd. I have similar opinion of Sen. Conyers.
Edited on Fri Oct-19-07 08:37 AM by bushmeat
I think both represent progressives well (in general) but are INCREDIBLY misguided on specific issues. Conyers for his support of RIAA.

7. Retroactive Immunity = worse than a Scooter Libby pardon
Scooter leaked the name of one CIA agent. He was convincted of obstruction.

The telecom companies handed over info about hundreds of thousands of us - before all the 9/11 excuses.

Shame on them.

It would be a(nother) dark day for the Constitution if the FISA legislation includes immunity.

I've signed the petition. Hooray for Chris Dodd.

11. I just gave $35 to the Chris Dodd campaign...
...via an Atrios link for rewarding good behavior:

Dodd isn't my first choice, but I want to help keep Dodd in the Democratic debates, as he's doing a good job of speaking out for the Constitution.

That Atrios link was in this post:

13. Dodd is showing courage
...and showing that you don't need a 2/3 majority to get things done....just courage.

I support Dodd in this endevor.

15. Do you think his example will influence others?
Edited on Fri Oct-19-07 10:09 AM by greyshade
To use the power they actually have? (And by use power, I mean bring influence to accomplish things for the public good.) While in a majority and even today, the Republicans wield power like a cudgel, sometimes in petty ways, mostly to serve special interests or promote wrong-headed ideology (Terry Schaivo, anyone?). But since gaining a slim majority, the Democrats have seemed tentative and far less than bold. Perhaps Dodd's example will provide courage on other fronts.
