War? Intolerance? Hypocrisy?
And to the Media; STFU, stop reinforcing this shit. Call them "So called Value Voters.' or people who call themselves Value Voters."
My values are peace, civil liberties, helping the needy and working for the average American instead of the corporations. I'm not a "Value Voter"?

He asked that we live as if we were "they"-
That we not be overly concerned about 'things'- but rather trust in the provisions of each other.

He wasn't hung up on "appearances"- the squeaky clean "Photo Op" facade.
He wanted us to live our caring and love for one another- and in return, we'd come closer to the "kingdom of heaven" which he said is among us.

He had some pretty harsh words for hypocrites.- those who like to stand on the streets making long prayers- wearing big "phylacteries" on their arms to show the world how 'pious' they were- busy polishing the outside of their cups, while neglecting the inside.
The part that really matters.

Who loved the chief seats - and high places.

Jesus was a friend to those this present society of 'religious' fanatics condemn as heathens-
harlots- sinners-

And it is far too often, among those where the only genuine glimpses of him are ever seen.

19. Red Values are not Mine

I have a disadvantage in responding. I am a Christian albeit one of those #$*& liberal ones. Because of the right wing values jerks access to the media my voice falls silent. It isn't because I don't speak out. I get ignored by both sides. The fundies tell me I am not Christian because I am pro-choice, anti-war, pro health coverage for all, anti Bush and corruption and a tree hugging, baby seal loving liberal from way back. Most of my values were influenced by my parents but I was raised in a church where most everyone shared my beliefs. These days I tend to call my self spiritual instead of Christian since the word Christian produces imagery of hatred, pro-war, pro death when it suits you, anti-gay and anti child. Many liberals don't have a lot of tolerance for anyone calling themselves Christian and I don't blame them most of the time. I have learned not to wear my heart on my sleeve. I was taught tolerance but I don't believe the word in in the right wing fundies vocabulary.

Democratic voters are the values voters now. We have been for many years. While fundies may call us week, we are strong. Whether practicing Christianity, Wicca, Budd ism, Muslim or no religion at all we follow great religious teachers since the beginning of the written word. We try to take care of Mother Earth, we oppose war and whether or not we agree with abortion or not, we have enough class not to judge. Right wing fundies may call us lots of names but we know we are working for what is right and true.

And, of course, their values are always inflicted upon others, but not themselves. So when you combine their values with hypocrisy, you wind up with a pretty messed up set of morals and ethics.

In short, if they do it it's OK, but if a Democrat does the exact same things, it's wrong. And they will simply ignore the fact that they are guilty of the same things.

Their Kool-Aid drinker followers find this convenient for themselves as well, so they go along with it.

Add in "Christian values" and that really screws things up. I don't know what Bible they reference, but I've never seen one that stated that judging others, hatred, condemnation, hypocrisy, lying, cheating, stealing, war, destruction, divorce, anonymous sex in men's rooms, hiring the services of a hooker, E-mailing underage Congressional Pages with sexual overtones, or any of the other things they do is acceptable in the Christian world, but they make exceptions for themselves.

And they think progressives are all going to go to hell! Have they got a rude awakening coming!

I too would like to know what Bible these monsters are reading. Jesus would not tell his people to start wars that killed hundreds of thousands of innocent people. He would not tell them to let people drown while he sat and ate cake. Jesus would not take health insurance away from little children. Jesus would not execute people and then got ape over abortion.

These value voters only see "value" in actions that can control people.

To Democrats values means: trying to get less fortunate children health care (SCHIP!!!), trying to end the fucking mess in Iraq, trying to fix the education system, trying to clean up the environment, trying to pass minimum wage laws, etc...

To Republicans values means: I go to church so I have values, i think Howard Stern is bad so I have values, i think porn is evil so I have values, i think Hollywood corrupts our youth so i have values - and that's the definition of warped Republican values, nothing but a bunch of self-righteous, self-centered, self-serving bastards who thinks the world revolves around them.....Their "values" basically translates to shoving their brand of morality down everyones throats..

I'll take Democratic (and Hollywood) values ANYDAY over those red state values....

I have never objected to people living their values, or even trying to convince others that their values are the right ones.

What I do object to, is when they turn around and tell me that I have no values.

In this they are not only wrong, but dishonest, since they know full well that others have values. They just disagree with what they are.

But this of course is another case where the rabid right has framed the debate, and the ridiculous scribes who pass as reporters have run with it, gleefully using headlines about "values voters" and posing questions to the same, as though they are some hallowed voting bloc who should be listened to by all of us sinners.

that this whole "Values Voter" crap is largely a media invention. Due to a badly worded poll after the 2004 election, the media said voters who voted on "values" put W over the top, especially in Ohio (yeah, stolen Ohio!).
The Far Xtian Right embraced that and started calling themselves V.V.s. Now they have a f@#king V.V. convention where all the Repub Pres. asshole wannabes have to bow before the great V.V.s.
Let's pull the army out of Guantanamo, rename it Valueland, and let all these idiots move there and have a little Value only country for themselves.
