I agree 100% with the actions of Pete Stark and Chris Dodd
this past week. I also am not comfortable with Nancy Pelosi denouncing Pete Stark's comments. I have been disappointed with alot of what this democratic congress has done or has failed to do.
I feel, however, the time to attack our democratic congress is not now. The are trying whatever means necessary to win the largest majority possible in 2008. We should help them get this real majority in congress and hopefully even the White House in 2008. Once a sound majority has been established, that would be the most effective time to hold their feet to the fire.

1. Pelosi hardly "denounced" him
she characterized what he said as "inappropriate", and by the rules of the House, it WAS inappropriate.

5. Regardless
of whether it was inappropriate or not, I'm not condemning Nancy for her actions. It's refreshing, for a change, to have someone like Pete Stark speak the truth without fear of the RW smears. My op is about supporting all Dems, including Nancy, through this election season so we can obtain a sound majority. Sorry you took it as an attack on Speaker Pelosi.

6. No, I didn't take it as an attack at all
and I agree with you.

I've just seen a lot of emotion over this, and it seems misplaced to me. Pelosi saying it's "Inappropriate" is hardly a stinging rebuke or denunciation.

I agree as well. Maybe I shouldn't have used the word "denouncing". I simply stated that I was uncomfortable with her words, not that I hold them against her.

7. Since fucking laws of the country do not matter, why should a fucking rule of the House?

4. K&R. I absolutely agree with you.
Was listening to Air America on Friday where they were praising Chris Dodd and I absolutely agree with what Randi Rhodes said about Pete Stark's speech, that he was only telling the truth, and it was about time that somebody did...

13. They are both precious!
That video is priceless! Rescue shelters and people like you who adopt from those shelters are such a wonderful thing. We walked in the SPCA TampaBay Pet Walk yesterday in St. Pete. They've counted $195,000 so far!

14. Thank you so much! My little guys mean the world to me...

And I generally take the older ones, and now I know why, LOL, since little Jack is a handful, but he's getting better and I love him dearly. Plan to take him to obedience classes, starting next month. ;)

And kudos to you for your wonderful support of the animals. I wish that I could do more, as my friends in rescue do, but they all break my heart and want to bring them all home with me. *sigh*

BTW, Here's the real Rhiannon, who I adopted when my uncle died. I took both of his cats, since his miserable bitch of a wife was going to just drop them off at some shelter. She stole my heart from day one...:loveya:

Rhiannon:hi:

on edit: typo

10. mzP just stated th rules didnt disagree with him, *'s WMD spoof search 4 his amusement an others
in the oval office showed his concern for troops dying cause of his lies for profit.

his comment.. profit trumps peace.. followed by a giddy amusing weasel chuckle.. shows he is amused by the consequences of war to make the richest richer and the most powerful more powerful

this all reeks of psychopathy.. from someone who as a child put firecrackers up frogs butts and blew them up for his amusement.

11. *'s actions are sickening
To paraphrase another poster, I look forward to having a President we can be proud of again.
Hopefully, after the 08 elections, we will have a chorus of Pete Starks.
