Sat. Oct 27, Protests coming to a city near you!
On Saturday, October 27 there will be mass demonstrations in 11 cities throughout the U.S. calling for the immediate withdrawal of troops from Iraq and no military action against Iran. People will march in major cities such as Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, Orlando, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Seattle as well as New Orleans, a symbol of our misdirected priorities, Jonesborough, Tennessee, home to one of the nation's largest depleted uranium weapons producers, and Salt Lake City, Utah, the only state where Bush's approval rate remains above 50%.

And in Rome (http://www.peaceandjustice.it/oct27.php), we'll be remembering the over 1,000,000 civilian deaths in Iraq, over 2,000,000 internally displaced and over 2,000,000 who have fled their country. That's over 5 MILLION! And what has become a common saying in Iraq? "Today is better than tomorrow."

For those of us who still have the luxury of hope, find the nearest protest and pack your car with family, neighbors and friends.

11. Before you leave for the protests, make these phone calls.

Get as many people to make these phone calls.

Call GOP contributor and war contractor General Electric Corporation at 203 373 2211 and ask for the public relations department. Tell the person in public relations that you want the GE CEO to get Bush to end the war in Iraq and then Bush resign with Cheney and until that happens you will not buy any GE products and that you will tell your friends about this.

Call GOP contributor Rite Aid at 1-800-325-3737 and tell the person to get the CEO to get the GOP to enact HR 676 Single payer health care and repeal Medicare Part D and place the drug benefit in Medicare Part B covering 80% of drugs with no extra premiums, no extra deductibles, no means tests, no coverage gaps, and remove the means test for Medicare Part B and until that happens, you won't buy ANYTHING from Rite Aid.

Call GOP contributor Wendy's restaurants at 614 764-3553 and Tell the person in public relations that you want their CEO to get the GOP to help enact a $10/HR MIN. WAGE into law and until this happens you will not go to a Wendy's Restaurant.

24. March and rally in Denver.
Got this email today from the Colorado PDA:

ANTI-WAR MARCH and RALLY
Saturday Oct. 27 at Noon
Veterans Park (14th and Lincoln) in Denver
Just West of the State Capitol
(www.rmpjc.org for more info)

For those of you who live far from Denver, consider gathering with friends and/or your local peace and justice group and organizing a presence at a major intersection in your town. The occupation of Iraq and a “constant state of war” are becoming normalized in our society. We need to resist these trends and actively work toward peace.

29. Have we any response from CSPAN that they will cover this?
I doubt I should waste typing this next question, but any other news media? Any info?

Hey, what about Current.. is this posted on their site, will we have regulars from the site, taping this? What about Michael Moore site? He's got a great team of photographers?

Last thing, anyone w/ cameras on their phones, or hand held video cameras, please bring it. Make sure you document your kids protesting this and save it to put up on their own myspace if thats what they want. Excellent tool for profiling/documenting CO status, if that's a direction they want to take.

Naomi Wolf is right, we need to be in the streets while it's still relatively safe to do so. It used to be completely safe, now it's relatively safe, and if you agree with her position... we are a tipping point or two away from the fast free-fall of a lost democracy.

Next show on "It could happen tomorrow" ought to be, the death of America as we know it.

It's dying, but it ain't dead yet... we can do this!!!

Let's Doctor Our Democracy!
