Israel attacks ElBaradei over Iran
Edited on Mon Nov-05-07 11:37 PM by lovuian
Israel's Foreign Ministry Director-General Aharon Abramovich on Monday accused the International Atomic Energy Agency of thwarting the international efforts against Iran's nuclear program.

"Instead of contributing to the international efforts against Iran, the IAEA is acting as an obstructive element, whose opinions serve as an excuse for countries to refrain from joining the efforts against Tehran," Abramovich said during a discussion of the Iranian issue at the Saban Forum.

Foreign Ministry officials explained that IAEA chief, Dr. Mohamed ElBaradei, a Nobel Peace Prize laureate who should be controlling the distribution of nuclear arms in the world, is allowing Iran to go ahead with processes which Israel believes will lead to the development of nuclear weapons.

Israeli sources explained that ElBaradei was using caution in his criticism of Iran, after being the one who had warned against the war in Iraq, claiming that it did not possess weapons of mass destruction.

I wonder if this could have made them mad too?

The U.N. nuclear watchdog said Monday it has no information to support a recent media report that Syria may be building a nuclear reactor, but said it expects any country that has details to share them with the agency.

"We would obviously investigate any relevant information coming our way," said Melissa Fleming, spokeswoman for the Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency, or IAEA.

In what appeared to be an indirect rebuke to the U.S., Fleming said in a statement that the nuclear agency "expects any country having information about nuclear-related activities in another country to provide that information to the IAEA."

The New York Times, citing U.S. and foreign officials, reported Sunday that an Israeli airstrike on Syria last month targeted a partially built nuclear reactor that was years away from completion.

3. Hand in hand?
More like hand up the ass. And we the American people are the puppets.

"The Lobby pursues two broad strategies. First, it wields its significant influence in Washington, pressuring both Congress and the executive branch. Whatever an individual lawmaker or policymaker’s own views may be, the Lobby tries to make supporting Israel the ‘smart’ choice. Second, it strives to ensure that public discourse portrays Israel in a positive light, by repeating myths about its founding and by promoting its point of view in policy debates. The goal is to prevent critical comments from getting a fair hearing in the political arena. Controlling the debate is essential to guaranteeing US support, because a candid discussion of US-Israeli relations might lead Americans to favour a different policy."

The above is from an article written by John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt, who came out recently with the book, 'The Israel Lobby'.

4. I guess he is ready to
finally tell the world about Israel's complete nuclear arsenal and admit they are the driving force in the region for others seeking the weapons they have had for decades. No?
