MSNBC to bend to the Left? "Tucker is in real danger of being canceled"- Rosie considered for a slot
MSNBC may add another Bush critic

By Jacques Steinberg

New York Times
11/06/2007 01:32:36 AM PST

Riding a ratings wave from "Countdown With Keith Olbermann," a program that takes strong issue with the Bush administration, MSNBC is increasingly seeking to showcase its evening lineup as a welcome haven for viewers of a similar mind.

Lest there be any doubt that the cable channel believes there is ratings gold in shows that bash the administration with the same vigor with which Fox News' hosts often champion it, two NBC executives acknowledged Monday that they were talking to Rosie O'Donnell about a show on MSNBC. During the nine months she spent on "The View" before departing abruptly last spring, O'Donnell raised viewership notably. She did so while lamenting the unabated casualties of the Iraq war and advocating same-sex marriage among other positions.

Under one option, O'Donnell would take the 6 p.m. PST slot each weeknight on MSNBC, pitting her against ''Larry King Live" on CNN and "Hannity & Colmes" on Fox News.

But even without O'Donnell, MSNBC already presents a three-hour block of talk - Chris Matthews' "Hardball," Olbermann and "Live with Dan Abrams" - in which the administration takes a regular beating. The one early evening program on MSNBC that is often most sympathetic to the administration, "Tucker" with Tucker Carlson at 3 p.m., is in real danger of being canceled, said one NBC executive.

Officials at MSNBC emphasize that they never set out to create a liberal version of Fox

2. I love that freeper thread where they say "no one watches KO anyway."
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1921531/posts

Of course, not one comment on the substance of KO's special comment, just lots of jabs at MSNBC and calls for KO to be waterboarded. But they're clearly delusional. Fox News must have had a story telling them no one watched KO.

5. Blecch.
I'm all for MSNBC following ratings -- this is a TV station after all, and that's what they have to do. And if trying for higher ratings means a liberal opinion show, then great! But one of the reasons Countdown works so well is that its host is an actual journalist who presents actual news, not an actor/talk show host/celebrity/whatever the hell else.

Plenty of 'celebrities' could. It just depends on their commitment and passion; which Rosie has more than enough of.

If the people who post the countless "can you believe what Tucker said?" threads would quit watching him, his rating would probably be 0.0.

They can "claim" that they have added a librul voice...and of course the people who love to hate Rosie will still watch and froth at the mouth while they fire off emails and wage internet-warfare against her.

Then when Rosie says something over the top (which she WILL), they can say.. "hey we tried it, but you know how those libruls are"..

:grr:

They need a PANEL of ALL liberals (rotating in and out)..and ZERO "input" from the repubes..

Think about it! Rachel can sit there and smile and calmly destroy everyone of Pat's red faced, spit filled right-wing rants with her wit and demeanor. The contrast would be amazing and "much watch TV".

My only problem with it is all the weight I'd gain from the vast amount of popcorn I'd be eat.

He made a "joke" about needing a new gig a while ago and his best bud, Willie, has gone over to the AM slot with Joe. I'm pretty sure Tucker has also pissed off a few of the "guests" that have come on his show. I'm pretty sure you won't see Katrina vanden Heuvel on there anymore.

is bearing to the left. This morning's show, no lie, was spent glorifying none other than Joe McCarthy (he got a bad rap! He was a victim!). Plus, Joe making joking about global warming (It's cold outside!) and claiming that not so long ago scientists were claiming we'd all die from global cooling. Sheesh. There was one guy back in the '70's who made that argument and the freeps have been flogging that nonsense ever since.

62. Why Rosie?
Edited on Tue Nov-06-07 02:11 PM by Codeine
Pathetic. Are people's horizons so limited that they really can't see beyond some half-informed washed-up actress? So many hugely-qualified commentators and journalists on the Left and the best they can do is that squawking, whiny, self-involved dipshit?

Again; pathetic. Stick to Tucker, at least he's good for giving me someone to laugh at.

65. How on earth the little rich shit-for-talent, Tucker survives disgraces NBC and MSNBC.
Edited on Tue Nov-06-07 03:09 PM by David Zephyr
Tucker has no talent. He has no grasp of real political history in this country other than bumpersticker campaign mythology. He's a complete disgrace to MSNBC.

66. To bad KommieCast has ISOLATED MSNBC to the upper tier PPV area...
I believe KommieCast made a concious decision to remove Kieth from America's main cable network.

As far as Tucker-Toodles & puhleeeze end up homeless & alchoholic. I mean what a better ending for a self absorbed snob?. Might teach him a thing or 2...

71. Not universally true
Here is a link to the local Comcast lineup in our area.

MSNBC, FOX, and CNN (among much else) is still one level above basic (which is JUST the over the air channels)

http://tvplanner.comcast.net/?initView=schedule#initView=grid,subPage=main,target=,b3target=,b3selPath=,gridStart=1194390000000,gridFilter=all,searchTerm=,microCat=null,microSubcat=null,browseAlpha=null,browseListing=null,1194391586390

MSNBC is 57, Fox is 54, CNN is 2. It has been this way for years. We're not Comcast customers, but they have it at the gym we go to, so I know this lineup is still current.
