G.E.Russert weasels, will go on sL-IMUS's circus "if NBC doesn't say no"

This is one strange blog. After this starting post, the 20-30 posters nearly all luerve sL-IMUS and his return and blast G.E.RUSSERT for their (not our) reasons, for having been a traitor to sL-IMUS back in April. One of them even goes maudlin batty, evoking how Wyatt luerved G.E.RUSSERT and how they played chess!1 One of them calls sL-IMUS "a little (too) liberal"!1

Just for kicks, my oft repeated take: sL-IMUS is a carnival freak (apologies to carnies), with NO convictions. NOTHING redeems him, not his charity (if that is on the level). If the charity works, it is, for me, compartmentalized, over unto itself, away from the CRAP sL-IMUS craps daily. His so-called "endorsements" are shtick. When he admits it, he says he just wants to be on a winning side. In 2000 his reason for voting Shrub as the comedians' cop-out, that Shrub would provide more comedic material. Those who cite here his endorsement of KERRY, how do they reconcile his further endorsements of Joementum and Harold FORD? Eh?!1

Russert: I'll go on Imus' show ... if NBC doesn't say no

Last April, as Don Imus's career seemed to be going down in flames, his high-powered friends suddenly fell mute. But Chris "Mad Dog" Russo, from Imus's home port of WFAN Radio, had his back. Russo went on the air and named names that should go into the "Imus Hall of Shame" because they had profited immensely from hours of free air time to plug their books on "Imus in the Morning," yet refused to defend him in his time of need.

Number one on his list: "Meet the Press" moderator Tim Russert.

This month "Meet the Press" is marking 60 years on television. I spoke with Russert on Wednesday about that, and in the process I asked him about the return of the I-man to Citadel Broadcasting Dec. 3 (with a simulcast on RFD-TV). Would Russert go on the show if asked?

Listen to Russert's reply (MP3)

There was a follow-up question that should've been asked here, and I didn't ask it. I guess that's why Tim Russert makes the big bucks and I don't. (In my defense, Russert called about three hours before I was expecting him to.)

1. I'm with you. I saw this and was amazed at the responses.
I also continue to be amazed at how many progressive-minded people seem to think Imus is on their side, just because he's been known to say negative things about Bush. Not quite. This is truly one of those cases where thinking "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" is way off base.

It disgusts me how eager some of his former worshipers, like Russert, are now to get back in his good books now that he's finally found another sucker willing to pay money to put him on the air.
