3. Your choices are rather limited and leading...

"Buy Nothing Christmas is not really about refusing to spend a dime over the holiday season. It’s about taking a deep breath and deciding to opt out of the hype‚ the overcrowded malls‚ and the stressful to–do lists. It’s about reminding ourselves to really think about what we are buying‚ why we are buying it‚ and whether we really need it at all."

5. My wanting not to shop today is driven by chronic crowditis
with parking complications.

I Hate Malls! Crowded Malls, and impossible parking lots, are worse yet!

I won't shop for Anything that isn't essential to living until after the New Year.

11. All dumb options - It saddens me to see people buy things on credit, which means
in many cases THEY CAN'T AFFORD IT (excuse me for yelling). Our economy is not healthy, and now is not the time for people to get further into debt. Now is the time to hunker down and be fiscally conservative. Now is the time to review ways to live inexpensively. That's why I loved the threads about inexpensive good recipes. When the Canadian dollar surpasses the US dollar, that gets my attention.

Sorry, about saying you have dumb options, but they inferred we're a bunch of party poopers. Quite the opposite, I would love to see people debt free, with money in the bank, rather than spending money they don't have.

13. I Vote Against Mass Consumer Shopping My Feet And Purse
I won't tolerate the surly crowds, the competitiveness, the psychological manipulation of it all.

Holidays have deteriorated into making (retail corporation) execs and stock holders rich, and insecure consumers (who want to appear more affluent) poor.

I try very hard to make my holidays about values, love, family and friends, good food and drink, blessings. Listen to some music, go to a show or chorale or two, bake some cookies, make some eggnog, trim the tree, check in with my place in the universe.

Don't need much else, except maybe a couple new pairs of socks.
