I don't know, so I'm asking. By popping the Senate in and out of session this way, is there any procedural weaknesses exposed that they can exploit when the tactic is repeated over the Christmas break?

1. Don't know of any but if they don't do for Xmas, you know * will appoint every Nazi in his circle
of demented friends and cronies.

5. Pretty amazing. I had no idea they could do this until this week.
The absurd hoops that honest people have to jump through just to prevent abuse of executive privilege these days. Sheesh!

2. Nah, I think it's a pretty ironclad parliamentary maneuver, if I understand it right.
In relation to a recess appointment from the White House.

The (R)'s passed legislation in a midnight session - Medicare Part D, iirc - with few members on the floor, but that was when they ran the agenda as the majority.

3. No. Unless you think it's mean for them not to let Bush appoint Wingnuts-a-Go-Go to key posts!
And I'm sure you don't encourage that sort of behavior.

The majority party controls the AGENDA. There isn't much the other team can do.
