Did anyone else find "Jesus Camp" hard to watch?
I think it's a good movie... but it's pretty scary too. It just feels a hair shy of white supremacy/ neo nazi stuff. It's just really creepy! I'm at the part where they're welcoming the cardboard cut-out of Bush! (He's suprisingly more articulate in this form.)

Did anyone else find this movie hard to watch?

3. I thought it was disturbing.
Seeing kids so brainwashed that they were practically worshipping DUH-bya. At least, that's what it looked like to me.

You'd have thought Jesus hisself had walked into the room when a life size cut-out of DUH-bya was there!

6. Oh! I'm at the Ted Haggert part!
He's condemning Homosexuals. He's telling the cameraman to repent now. YIKES!

7. Not at all...
It's sad, but a must see. I liked it very much, if more people were to see that kind of insanity they would be more then likely to not expose their kinds to that brainwashing.

Children are extremely impressionable. Take a child, place them in a room full of sobbing children and that child will also begin to sobb. Take that same child, place them in a room full of children playing with toys and that child will begin to do the same. Children will mock the behavior of others and begin to act as such.

The religious freaks know how impressionable kids are, so it is to their advantage to get them while they are young and burn religion onto their brain.

It is in effect, child abuse.

9. Very much so. I was creeped out a lot. It horrified me that so many
people could be brainwashed in this fashion, although intellectually I know it. Hard to watch it up close and personal, if you know what I mean.

10. It was hard to watch
Between watching these little children be so brainwashed that they run around trying to "convert" total strangers to young children "speaking in tongues"--it was all extremely creepy.

More creepy were the "adults" in the film. These children were either home-schooled or told not to believe anything (especially science!!!) from their teachers. Education was somehow evil and trying to separate these children from their "true faith."

We do need to be aware of all of these fundamentalist and evangelical churches that are popping up like weeds across the country and their impact on our lives. (Trying to take evolution out of the classroom, demanding censorship of books ...)

11. I wonder if there will be a miltary version of Jesus Camp?
Mickey Weinstein's group has made an excellent and disturbing case of the fundies in uniform. I think if it was made it might spook the nation into dealing with it.

12. Yes it made me very uncomfortable
I couldn't stand watching those kids being abused.

But I love the movie and recommend it all the time. It really tells us a lot about these crazy talibornagains.

My favorite part is the homeschooled kid talking Science with his mom.

16. The little dancing girl --- she had to be all of 10 years old.
She said she could only dance if it was for God and not in the flesh. Then she's called to lunch and the family recites the Pledge of Allegiance to the Bible. Freaky!

17. I like when mullet head kid says he was saved at age 5
"because he was looking for something more in his life". Gimme a fucking break. At age 5 you didn't "accept" Jesus into your life, he was rammed down your throat.

The adults doing this shit are abusers, plain and simple.

18. I felt sorry for the children more than anything.
Some of them may be lucky enough to escape that cult lifestyle, but I suspect most of them will not have normal lives.
