Bush and the Rethugs really are like the mafioso
I watched a "history" show today narrated by Bill Kurtis. It was on the mafia and their rise. He mentioned that they were largely ignored for years while their criminal acts grew increasingly heinous. When the law finally attempted to clamp down, they had so infiltrated themselves with judges and police that even those who were sentenced or deported were able to buy new court cases and have rulings against them overturned. One in particular went toe to toe with Bobby Kennedy when Kennedy had him deported.

Their trials were appalling in that, just like Condi and Gone-zealous, they filibustered and took the fifth to avoid prosecution. In trials they pleaded the fifth as many as 50 times. They bought politicians and paid people to help rig elections in order to ensure those who favored them were in power.

New laws had to be written to prosecute them--and thus the Rico Act was born.

BushCo seems to have taken a page out of mafia's playbook.

The "Bush Crime Family" name has merit.

1. The Bush cabal also values loyalty over all else.
This explains the enormous number of incompetent stooges placed in the highest offices of our government.

They need loyal crooks who will not squeal to prosecutors.

So we end up with "heckuva job" Brownies, Condis, and Rummys.

3. Sociopaths, one and all
Sociopaths don't have the ability to feel guilt or empathy. Sociopaths manipulate and are vindictive. The mafia AND the GOP leadership are populated with sociopaths.

4. Not only the mafia's playbook, but pages from several powerful totalitarian societies,
the Soviet Union and the Third Reich in particular.
