NAFTA? I was against it. DOMA? I was against it. Welfare reform? I was against it. The Telecommunications Act? I was against it. And yet in each case I supported a candidate who was for it.

I still remember the uncomfortable maneuver I had to do to support Kerry in 2004 (and I worked hard on GOTV) even though I was 100 percent against the illegal Iraq invasion. It was a horrible feeling, but I felt I had no choice.

If you are making a partisan calculation and want to avoid the worst possible candidate, you are already doing so by voting Democratic in the general election. The primaries are our time to stop being simply partisan and help turn our true desires into action. After this, it is Dem or bust. Don't throw that opportunity away on a "compromise." It is the only chance we get in this voting system.
