I'm going to vote for Edwards in the NH Primary.
I've finally decided. Of all of the dem candidates, except for Dennis who I can't bring myself to vote for, Edwards has the best plan for peace in Iraq. He also has a good position on Iran and a decent health care proposal. I also like the fact that he's made the plight of the poor a key part of his campaign. As for the red herring about his wife's medical condition being a reason he shouldn't be running or he shouldn't be elected, it seems to me that this was clearly their choice and I respect it. They have been through a lot more sorrow in their lives than I have and I think they are strong people who can deal with whatever happens.

So there! I've made up my mind. I figure the primary vote is MY vote. In the general, it will be the Democratic Party's vote.

2. good for you
In the March Ohio primary, I will vote for DK as a protest against having no say in who is chosen as the D candidate.

3. good choice
Edwards is somewhat of a compromise vote for me, but he has always been my number 3 (behind Gore and Kucinich) and I do believe of all the Dems running - he is the most electable in ALL regions of the country.

QUESTION: Hillary seems to be fading as the star factor wears off and folks (outside of DU) really start thinking about the election. I've noticed her lead over Obama/Edwards has consistently been slipping in NH. Raven, do you see her as fading in your home state? What are the locals saying....?

peace~:)

5. Good question! Yes, she's "fading" but I have always questioned
the reliability of the polls up here. New Hampshire people hate the polls and will often lie to the pollsters...it's like a state pastime. I have not met one person up here who is going to vote for Clinton in the Primary, although I must say that I run with peace people so that sample may be a little off. Up here, people are well aware of the power they have in holding an early election. They are also very jealous of their privacy. I have never thought that the polls coming out of NH were accurate...I could be wrong, we'll see! Also, it is amazing to me how many people up here have not made up their minds yet!

10. Oh I hope your right!
Really like what you said about folks lying to the pollsters - gawd, we all should do that!

4. I probably will in New Mexico, too
although I like Richardson and fully expect him to take the state.

The truth is that I think Richardson would make a better Secretary of State than president, although he would be a good president. He's been a great governor (well, after his first 2 years which were out of the DLC playbook).

I also like Dodd and Biden.

However, unless he slips and gets caught with a dead hooker or a live boy, I'll probably vote for Edwards, and hope he follows through on his rhetoric this time, unlike his record in the Senate.

I think you make something of a point, that the primary vote is a personal choice, and general is largely party.

8. still too new here to rec
but consider this a virtual rec on your comment. His efforts on poverty here and abroad are what brought me to Edwards in the first place; from there, it's been nice to realize I support his other positions as well.

15. N.H. Independents can vote for either a Dem or Repub in the Primaries, right?
So many Independents who have leaned Repub in the past are attracted to Edwards. THere is a front page story in the News & Observer(Raleigh, NC) that points out that Edwards is reaching the Independents in N.H. with his Campaign.

That is exactly what we need in the General Election.

If Edwards wins in Iowa, the vote 5 days later in N.H. will support the momentum Edwards brings with him.

the more I got behind him. And I just made my final decision recently, as well.

20. I am voting for Edwards in the South Carolina primary...
I have found on issue after issue, I don't have to wonder about where John Edwards stands. Senator Edwards is firmly and solidly progressive on all the issues of the day. And when current events happen, you don't have to wonder where he will end up, like we do with Obama or Clinton. He is solidly with progressives every single time. I can almost predict his public comments, I know what he is going to say. He's not going to try to "straddle issues" to appeal to conservatives like Clinton and Obama do all the time. Instead, Senator Edwards is going to explain why progressive values are what is needed in America today. That's the real difference between Edwards, Clinton, and Obama.

America needs change and John Edwards is truly the only real change candidate in the running. Kusinich also is a solid progressive, but simply doesn't have enough national name awareness or money to really challenge the top two. So by default, it's Edwards.

I encourage all progressives to support and vote for John Edwards.
