Another fun Predict the Fed thread (announcement coming at 11:15 Pacific Time)
I say they lower by 25 basis points and issue a bias statement that is still edgy about inflation but that emphasizes that risks to economic growth outweigh the inflationary risks.

1. Yep, keep the house of cards standing till the next guy takes over.
Then we'll have a severe recession and runaway inflation. It's probably inevitable anyway, with the collapse of the US dollar against other currencies, national debt of Biblical proportions, trade deficits as far as the eye can see, continued assault on the middle class, and implosion the housing/mortgage industries.

Did I miss anything?

4. No, I think 25 like you said.
They're dealing with perceptions. If you make smaller cuts you can stretch them out over a longer period of time - say, until January 2009.
