Progressive Democrats Go On Offensive Against Iraq Funding

WASHINGTON - December 11 - Progressive Democrats of America is mobilizing its 90,000 members and allied organizations to stop an expected congressional vote to authorize additional spending on the occupation of Iraq. In another capitulation to Bush and the Republican war machine, Congress is expected to vote on Tuesday, December 11, to approve continued funding for the occupation of Iraq, with no strings attached.

Out of Iraq chair Rep. Maxine Waters and co-chairs of the Congressional Progressive Caucus Reps. Lynne Woolsey and Barbara Lee sent a letter on December 7 encouraging Speaker Pelosi and the House leadership to refuse the authorization of more funds for Iraq without a timeline for withdrawal.

"We're fed up," Carpenter said of the Congress that has repeatedly shied away from using the power of the purse to force a withdrawal from Iraq, “but, we're very supportive of those members who are willing to take a stand against our continued presence in Iraq.”

7. No, he's pulling the war funding, which will piss off a lot of people,
but it might not be a bad move. I wish they'd stop funding the 'illegal occupation', period. But we know this isn't the end of the story. I think they should demand both sides compromise, so agree with Obey there. Giving the rethugs and the dim one everything on a silver platter doesn't work or make me happy.

3. Maxime Waters and Barbara Lee are two gems...
It's a relief to know at least some people get the message.

Now if the damned MSM would just give them the attention and airtime they deserve.
