I would add a bouncing ball gif to follow along
on your computer screens at home, but I don't know how.

2. ...
Father McKenzie, writing the words to a sermon that no one will hear.
No one comes near.
Look at him working, darning his socks in the night when there's nobody there.
Nobody cares.

Ah, look at all the lonely people!

Eleanor Rigby died in the church and was buried along with her name.
Nobody came.
Father McKenzie wiping the dirt from his hands as he walks from the grave.
No one was saved.

3. Many have signed the petiton, I think.
Good idea to keep in everyone's collective memory though.

Now to get the committee off their collective asses and do something!!!! :grr:

8. I gave it to you the other night but here it is again....
;)

There is a bill in Congress that would create a path home for some of the hardest hit Katrina survivors.

The Gulf Coast Housing Recovery Act of 2007 (S.1668) would re-open desperately needed housing and make sure

there is no loss of affordable public housing in New Orleans.

Unfortunately, the Bush administration and several senators are opposing its passage, paving the way for a whiter,

wealthier New Orleans and Gulf Coast.

Can you add your voice to those calling on the Senate to pass S.1668?

9. An e-mail address is required... not a comprehensive or representative approach
But I signed it anyway.

What do you think this petition will do, BTW?

Are you discouraging the idea that DU should take concerted action,

because this group is out there?

I was just volunteering for a group in NOLA, they are also lobbying
on this issue.

Does that mean DU should not?

From the lack of responses to this and other threads, it appears
very few people on DU have a specific interest in social justice
related issues involving racism and classism.

There is the lack of response here when the Supreme Court modified
Brown vs. Board of Ed, for example.

6. It's not too late to pass 1668.
(If a poll were done around here, I suspect most people
would not be aware of S.1668 or its importance. On the
other hand, is it fashionable or just "realistic" to
oppose it?)

To crib a line from the atheism vs. Christianity threads:

When will "moderate" Dems -- who care deeply
about cultural issues like atheism vs. religion and such --
speak out and answer for their congressmen's inaction on
S.1668?

A bill that tries to prevent real-life "cultural warfare"
from occurring this month of December?

"Everyone's signed the petition" =

I haven't... and who's reading it?

Where's the outrage?
