Enhanced Interrogation: It works, and just look at that shine!
Edited on Tue Dec-11-07 06:18 PM by IDemo
Lost in the CIA videotape he said/she said

One thing I haven't seen addressed here (although I haven't read every post, either) is that, in addition to spreading the blame around, the White House is apparently trying to slam the door on the "torture doesn't work" arguments with the revelations from a former CIA agent:

According to the former agent, waterboarding of terror suspect Abu Zubaydah got him to talk in less than 35 seconds. The technique, which critics say is torture, probably disrupted "dozens" of planned al-Qaida attacks, said John Kiriakou, a leader of the team that captured Zubaydah, a major al-Qaida figure.

Even though we have absolutely no way of knowing whether that is true or not (did you really use a stopwatch during the procedure, John?), the FauxFreep™ talking point is now out that "torture does work", in addition to "and Democrats love it!" Expect the Rove/Bolton/Krauthammer/O'Really's to bloviate over this one for a while.

2. Hm hmm.
"(The torture) probably disrupted 'dozens' of planned al-Qaida attacks."

Which ones?

"Oh, we can't tell you."

Well, if they were all 'disrupted', why not?

"Well, we just can't. You'll have to trust us."

Okey, dokey then!

Anyone who believes that this Admin wouldn't be SCREAMING IT FROM THE ROOFTOPS if they had actually thwarted any plot, anywhere, at any time, is dreamin'.

The only 'evidence' BushCo ever proffers with respect to ANYTHING is 'evidence' that can never be verified. Funny that ...

3. I prefer to draw, quarter, and disembowel.
Just like Mel Gibson in Braveheart.

5. And then they can make up what the suspect "probably" would have said,
and the suspect isn't around to contradict the "confession." Slick.

4. It must be heady times to be working for Propaganda Services
Just this week, we have: The NIE report ain't worth the paper it's printed on; The CIA is also known as "The Keystone Spooks"; torture works; and Democrats are with us (torture hawks) all the way.

And don't forget, the flowers and chocolates are beginning to rain down on the streets of Baghdad.

It's hard, hard work.
