Terror trial jury, still split, calls it day

Jurors in the homegrown terrorism trial of seven Miami men charged with waging war against the United States were unable to reach a verdict on Tuesday.

U.S. District Judge Joan Lenard sent the 12 jurors home for the night shortly after 5 p.m. with orders to return Wednesday for an eighth day of deliberations.

The jurors will resume deliberations Wednesday.

The defendants -- all young, black men arrested amid much fanfare in June 2006 on four terrorism-related conspiracy offenses, including sedition -- face up to 70 years in prison.

The Bush administration publicized the case as a victory against homegrown terrorism after their arrests.
