They make it sound like most of the billing is fraudulent. . .and that this doesn't happen in "private" health insurance.

1. Medicare Advantage Plans are a prime example of overbilling.

Private for-profit insurance companies get subsidies through Medicare to deliver health services to people under the mistaken notion that private entities can do it cheaper, but the studies say that, if anything, the scheme is proving more expensive than simply directly paying out to health care recipients because private entities tack on a profit mark-up to generate profits.

2. Sure sounded like the talk of privateers

Blanket attacks on Medicare as if it's all fraudulent is nothing more than propaganda for privateers. NBC didn't even try to do a real investigative piece, only to inflame so the public is more compliant when the privateers move in for the kill (of this program).
