estrangement in YOUR family?

Just curious as to what people's stories are. I would love to see my nieces and nephews more, but hey, brother in law keeps them on a tight leash. Encourages my sister to play the victim so it's always difficult to have any kind of relationship with the kids. (I'm thinking it's because he's a Mountie and only way to get the wife to follow him to every rural, little town is to keep a tight rein) Sister is not innocent here, but we did have more of a relationship when she was married to her first husband (who we'll admit, was no prize himself)

Breaks the grandparents hearts, as well.

Well, at least when they turn 18 they will have free will. :eyes:

One of my nieces has a spiritual name and she was down Thanksgiving with her little girls. We had a blast--we went to the local natural food co-op, bought lettuce, and went home and ate a huge salad. Luckily, I'm the family genealogist, and that makes it easy to talk to other family members who otherwise would be a pain. Somehow talking about Great Aunt Tilly's foibles gets me off the hook and out of sticky conversations. And the beauty of it is that you aren't hurting any living person by doing so!
