Tigger Socks Cost Napa Schools Thousands
Tigger Socks Cost Napa Schools Thousands
Written by Jason Kobely, Internet News Producer

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- A Northern California school district's attempt to stop a child from wearing socks with a picture of a cartoon tiger to class is turning out to be costly.

The Napa Valley Unified School District will have to pay at least $95,000 in lawyers' fees under a settlement with five families who sued the school over its dress code. The deal was announced Thursday.

The parents went to court after a student was disciplined for wearing socks with the cartoon character Tigger on the first day of school last year.

The district's superintendent said settlement money is for the plaintiffs' lawyers. The district is also on the hook to pay the lawyers it hired.

1. I'm glad they have to pay for such a stupid rule.
Good grief. Why can't kids just be kids? People keep trying to rule and regulate them to death.

3. At my daughter's school they have a uniform policy, just sign a waiver though
and you don't have to abide by it. I would say about 80% of the kids wear whatever they want there (mostly, some things are still not allowed).

4. Unfortunately "they" are the district's taxpayers
Of course you could argue that the taxpayers voted in the school board that adopted the dumbass policy in the first place so they are just gettin what they deserved.
