Its odd that Condileezza Rice has not made a statement?
Ms. Rice had a major role in convincing Benazir Bhutto to return to Pakistan. One would think that she would at least make a public statement of sympathy. But so far, nothing as far as I know.

Is she on vacation? Is she so involved in the Israel-Palestine Peace Accord that she has removed herself from the rest of the World?

But maybe there is more to it. Let me toss out this idea. Maybe she has been sedated! She is an intelligent person. She might actually have understood how dangerous this game has become. Until now, the deaths have been far removed from her world. Suddenly someone in her world has paid the price for PNAC's miscalculation.

On the other hand she might be on a New Year's bender with her boss*.

Condoleezza Rice Condolences for Bhutto

WASHINGTON (AP) — Here is a text of Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice's message of condolence for slain former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto:

I wish to express my deepest sympathies to the family of Mrs. Bhutto, to her supporters and to the people of Pakistan.

She was a woman of courage and a champion of democracy.

Her legacy will be one of commitment to freedom for her people and deep love for her country.

Condoleezza Rice

Secretary of State

The United States of America

2. Oops! sorry.
But its kind of a detached statement, don't you think? Was it delivered live, or just mailed in?

14. The statement was undoubtedly issued in her name.
She more than likely never even saw what it said.

3. I doubt she cares much.
I didn't ever hear anything that indicated she personally knew Benazir. I'm guessing Condi probably looked at Benazir as a chess piece lost during the game. Did I mention that I consider Bush's empire to be headed by some very cold people?

4. It should have been "Mission: Accomplished"

Wasn't the idea to get Bhutto back into Pakistan... to lead the opposition (and be in our pocket)?... and if Bhutto gets killed... so, well, I guess Musharraf wins the election by default and we have another few years with an ELECTED non-military leader (at least we can pretend he was elected!). So we win either way. That she was killed was probably assigned a "very likely" outcome in Dick Cheney's office (with Kinda Sleezy sitting right there with the rest of the "masters of the universe" in the BFEE crime family). So this was all anticipated.

If she had avoided assassination, that would have been OK with the neocons as well.

6. She must be one of the most detached and ineffectual SOS we've
ever had. Half the time it seems like she's just phoning it in.

7. Pres. Cheney sees no purpose to be served by her or her mutterings.
Condi is not just the last token, she remains the most difficult to regulate her medications.

8. She's Irrelevant
Besides being the worst Secretary of State EVER, she's also the most inept government official. This so-called "policy genius" has been steamrolled and used as a puppet so often that anything she says has no real merit...no policy...nothing truly official. She's the poster child of how dysfunctional our diplomatic corpse has become...and how the State Department has become yet another political toy of the GOOP.

Yep, Rice gave a statement...no one cared.

Game over.
