Documents reveal details of state's execution process
Source: ZanesvilleTimesRecorder

CLEVELAND - Ohio begins the process of executing its death row inmates with the subtle fastening of a warden's jacket button.

The documents state that two members of the execution team are certified as emergency medical technicians, and at least one is nationally certified by a pathology board. But Jeffrey Gamso, an attorney with the American Civil Liberties Union, sees nothing to convince him that the state can carry out executions in a humane manner.
"For someone to be executed without being tortured in Ohio is dumb luck," said Gamso, who represents two defendants challenging the lethal injection method.

The state turned over the binder of documents two weeks ago to Burge, who will consider whether Ohio's execution method is unconstitutional.

Ruben Rivera and Ronald McCloud are challenging the lethal injection method, saying the drugs don't give the quick and painless deaths required by Ohio law. Each could receive death sentences if convicted in two separate Lorain County murders. A status conference on the lawsuit is scheduled for Jan. 8.

I wonder if the Govenor will step in to stop the execution of the pedophile rapist murderer. But this execution may not be that case as those details have been omitted for the sake of arguement

1. Support for the death penalty is continued by ...
holding up for public view ONE example of a henious crime.

Yet, we can remain silent and feel little outrage as insurance companies, HMOs, for-profit prisons, and other public policies/decisions causes the deaths of thousands a month.

3. It's much cheaper to incarcerate for life than to execute.
In Florida the total cost of one execution is nearly 4 million. It's far cheaper to spend the $30,000 a year to keep them locked up for life. I would use 1 million for the life incarceration and 1 million for the court and etc costs however without the additional costs of the multiple appeals that figure may be much lower, and then give the victims family 1 million and save the extra 1 million.

Doing it this way also eliminates the TV and newspaper circus where they make money off the court and execution process and it also puts our country on the better side of EU and other countries who are anti death penalty.

In any case it is cheaper to keep them locked up without parole.
