Jesus Camp...a link to the full length docu film
Edited on Tue Jan-01-08 01:26 AM by ElsewheresDaughter
As a Christian, I find this disturbing.

What it is, is child abuse? I'll keep all other comments to myself.

1. Frrom the few minutes I could stand to watch on A&E the other night
It's a steaming load of intolerance and hate, nothing to do with Jesus from what I could see.

8. My mom was channel surfing when she ran into this
The few seconds she watched really freaked her out. I, myself, wanted to see the docu...too bad I missed it. Admittedly, though, I probably would've had nightmares for weeks.

2. That little freckle faced girl.... (spoiler post, BTW)
What a piece of work!

She approaches three black men sitting in the park and asks them where they think they'd go if they died today. The guy told her heaven, and she asks, "Are you sure?" I wonder if they told her to get lost, or if she got disoriented when the response didn't allow her to go into a self-righteous diatribe.

As she's leaving she said she thought they were Muslims. :wtf:

4. "she thought they were Muslims"
A fundie AND a racist! That kid will probably grow up to be the next Ann Coulter.:eyes:

The movie was terrifying. Those people are unbelievable ... they're like a cult! There's no independent thought, it's just hate-filled groupthink. :scared:

6. THAT is child abuse
Letting that little girl walk up to strangers and talk to them about JESUS??

That scene just infuriated me.

What if one of the people she approached snatched her? What if she says something that offends some insane street person so much he/she assaults her?

Not a good situation to put that child in. Not good at all.

3. They aren't Christians in my book.
They are dangerous Fundanistas, and what they are doing to these children is despicable.

7. They have to work on little children. Little children are more gullible into
believing the religiously insane story about an invisible man living in the sky who needs money!

9. It will take these kids
YEARS to detox from that childhood -- if they ever can. I managed to sit through the whole thing, mostly screaming, "OMG! Did you see that? OMG!"

10. Definitely child abuse, Elsewhere
This was very painful for me to watch. I don't know which Jesus it is these people think they're pleasing -- he's sure not the one I know.

13. Interesting.....
that jesus camp is held in a place named Devils Lake. :) The camp's creator talks of fasting and overeating. It's quite obvious she's never met a meal that she didn't like. ;) Pot, kettle, black, and all that. :eyes: They think people "believe" global warming is a real problem and scoff at that "belief". Yet they see no irony or hypocrisy in their "belief" of virgin birth, death and resurrection, worldwide floods, etc. etc. etc.

The "adults" there have done a terrific job of brainwashing those kids with complete and utter nonsense. Requiring creationism to be taught in science class is like requiring air guitar to be taught as an accepted instrument in the school band. :banghead:

These are some seriously messed up people. They're betting everything that jesus will return during their lifetime. Of course christians have been betting their lives on this from the advent of christianity. It was originally thought that jesus would return within a few years and his followers would be whisked off to heaven. It's been almost 2,000 years now and the christians are still waiting. You'd think at some point they'd start questioning the veracity of what they've been taught, but that's not the christian way.

In my opinion religion is a mental illness, and should be treated as such. It's quite obvious that these people are mentally unstable and are blatantly forcing that instability onto their children. This is as much child abuse as someone who beats their child with a belt.

As the old saying goes, "lord, please protect us from your believers". That so may of these people are forcing their way into our government is cause for great concern.
