They all do it... It drives me nuts because we've had 8 years to learn how to spot a Rethug talking point and expose it.

Thanks, to DU, the blogs, and most notably Bob Somersby's Daily Howler, we've become pretty damn good at catching them and then disintegrating them.

There is no excuse what-so-ever for a modern day Democrat to use a rehashed repug talking point.

3. It drives me nuts when Democrats lose votes because of whining
about petty, pointless distinctions. We used to be the "high ground" party, but when we whine about 49.5% not being close enough to "half" to be considered "half", we paint ourselves as the "ridiculous" party.

:eyes: Besides, it's not a drive. It's merely a short putt.

:silly:

"Nuts" is a Good Thing.

7. My personal favorite -
The rightwing talking point that has been by far the most effective is:

"In 2006 Democrats were elected to Congress to stop the war in Iraq".

This is not true - it was just made up.

The setup was designed by Rove and minions to make the Dem leaders look ineffective. It worked. The MSM trumpeted the stop the war message daily and then repeatedly trumpeted the Dem failures. The country bought the story - even some Dem legislators came to believe the lie.

And it came to DU - most here believe it happened - "The Dems were elected to Congress to stop the war in Iraq."

Ahhhh DU - the graveyard of rightwing talking points.

8. Abso-effing-lutely. It took me about 2 hours to read through "Don't Think of an Elephant" by
Lakoff and now I can sense a RW talking point the first time it's uttered--and yet our gang never seems to get it. I call 'em out here on DU, I wish I could do that in the MSM.
