1. It sure changed me
Granted, I am running Kubuntu but I will never go back to Windows.

A caveat, I still have XP on the same machine but I only use it to run FlashMX and my image optimizing program.

Other than that, totally Linux. Total love.

4. Ubuntu?
Ubuntu is a predominantly desktop-oriented Linux distribution based on Debian GNU/Linux. Ubuntu aims to use only free software to provide an up-to-date yet stable operating system for the average user, and features a strong focus on usability, regular releases, and ease of installation at the expense of platform diversity.

7. Now THATs a good new year's resolution!

Congrats. There will be times when you end up having to learn more than you want to know about the guts of it, but it'll be less time spent fussing over it overall and in the end you'll have actually learned something, as opposed to just figuring out "the secret combination of software reinstalls."

9. Don't worry, it has a UNIX (Luinux?) command line shell interface.
The Mail program on ubuntu works a lot better than Outlook (which is
engineered to discourage POP server users and get them to subscribe
to web servers like Gmail that spy on you for advertising purposes)
but still leaves a lot to be desired, and I say that as a Netscape
user. In any case I soft-booted ubuntu on a LAN computer at a radical
progressive organization and except for the tech nerds who put it there,
every activist in the joint thought I had sabotaged their computer.
"Where the fuck is Windows? The computer's broken." Happy new year!
