Poll question: Which Democratic candidate will HOLD BUSH ACCOUNTABLE?
Which Democratic candidate, if elected in the GP, will actually hold the Bush administration accountable for its various war crimes?

9. At This Point, I Don't Care If They Do Flee the Country
Just so long as they GO! http://www.afn.org/~afn15301/seussfiles/political.html

"Richard M. Nixon

Ted Geissel (Dr. Suess) was friends with Art Buchwald at the height of the Watergate scandal in the mid 70's, and Mr. Buchwald had challenged Ted to write a political book for a change. Being the Suess he was he quickly grabbed a copy of ``Marvin K. Mooney, Will You Please Go Now!''a book published in 1972, and enjoyed some success, and edited in Richard M. Nixon at every mention of Marvin K. Mooney. Buchwald, at the time had a syndicated column in the newspapers, and asked permission from Ted to print it. Random House was against it, and with the agreement of Ted, on July 30, 1974 the following piece ran in the papers, with Buchwald taking full credit, and Ted taking full intent.

Richard M. Nixon, will you please go now!
The time has come.
The time is now.
Just go.
Go.
Go!
I don't care how.
You can go by foot.
you can go by cow.
Richard M. Nixon, will you please go now!
You can go on skates.
You can go on skis.
You can go in hat
But
Please go...
Please!...

Nine days later, on August 8, 1974 the citizens of the United States listened and watched as President Nixon, announced his resignation."

8. Really?
I haven't heard that. I can't imagine Biden proposing legal action against the President and VP wouldn't make the news.

10. He hasn't proposed any legal action. He was asked at a campaign event
Edited on Tue Jan-01-08 02:29 PM by gateley
if he would pursue charges against them. He explained what the legal challenges would be and that they'd all need to be addressed before bringing charges -- getting all the t's crossed, so to speak -- so the case would have legs and not lose on legal challenges.

(I'm relaying this from memory of a video I saw -- so I'm paraphrasing).

Anyway, he was asked if they could be charged after leaving office and he said yes, but there's a statute of limitations so it would need to go forward as soon as they had a strong case.

Again, this is from my memory. I don't recall what video it was, but I'll look around for something on it because I want to see those guys HANG. I'm not sure what the other candidates' stances are on this issue.

EDIT: I just looked at the poll results. I agree that Dennis would go after them, too -- with a vengeance!

17. No - it was a warning that it would have to be done quickly, and with the
correct preparation so they didn't waste time having to re-group if it failed because of legalities.

I'm not sure what laws/statutes he's referring to, but I trust he knows what he's talking about.

14. When did he say that to supporters? Have a link I could read?
I may forgive him his bankruptcy bill vote if he will hold the thugs accountable. He actually SAID he would insist on investigating the criminals in this administration? Or did he just "insinuate" it?

18. As I said, this was from my memory of a video I watched, but I'm relaying it
as I remember it - the impression I took away was essentially "good - he's going to nail those fuckers".

I'm going to hunt for any comments Joe may have made regarding this -- and I'll look for the video, too. I'll be back!

"The alternative, and it's taken me time to think through, I think we should be acquiring and accumulating all the data that is appropriate for possibly bringing criminal charges against members of this administration at a later date."

Still lookin' for more. :hi:

EDIT to add: As I'm looking, I'm also doing searches on any statements by Clinton, Obama, Edwards -- can't find any
