I can only speak for myself.
No matter WHO wins the Democratic Primary, I will set aside whatever animosity I have to help get that person elected. We've had enough of Republican rule and even the worst of our candidates is a damn sight better than any Repugnik.

Yes, I have my issues with several of the candidates. I don't like Clinton's corporatism. I distrust Obama's Bipartisanship. I am less than thrilled with Biden's "Drug Warrior" history. And, despite the fact that I'm supporting Edwards, there are things about him that I don't like either.

Such is politics.

But no matter what, it's vital that we keep the Republicans out of the White House, and usher as many as possible out of the halls of Congress this time around. I'd prefer honest to goodness progressives, but I'll settle for what I can get.

So beyond all the venom and vitriol, we are united in one thing. Republicans suck.

2. Yep
I am with you on this.

If you see me sparring with certain people on this board, take note. I am doing it because I feel some folks have gone way past the limits of disagreement and have ventured into baseless, hateful attack territory. I don't like it, no matter what Dem it's directed against. It's one thing to dislike a Democratic candidate's policies. It another to wage petty attacks based on B.S. and bile.

10. Same here!
My least favorite (HRC) is better than any Repug... and that being said, I prefer everyone else over her. I'm not a Democrat, but I'm supporting only Dems in the next several elections (or until we have a viable 3rd choice!).

Another thing I've been feeling lately... We're not going to be able to fix everything, and undo all the damage with one Democratic President. So, even if the Dem nominee isn't your first or second choice, they're the first step toward our future. After that we'll get another one (maybe Gore?) and continue moving forward. It'll be a process, and will take longer than 8 years. However, it is vital we get the WH and get this country back on track in 2008.

I don't want a kindler, gentler piece of shit. Give me the whole shabang. Then I will deal accordingly.

lying as he lies beside his flickering monitor in the basement of his mom's house. You see, there's a sea of difference, I dare say more than meets the eye. You could accept their premise except there's always a part too easily taken apart.

62. There will be no revolution
unless we get rid of the corporate media.

But assuming there is a revolution. How many modern nations have overthrown fascism from within? That's not a rhetorical question - does anyone have any examples and how did it happen? How long did it take? How many modern revolutions ended up with dictators in power? How many modern revolutions did not improve the lot of the common man? How many modern civil wars have been going on for more than a generation? Or went on for more than a generation and still left people oppressed?

If we can't make things better by voting, things are going to get shitty (or shittier) before there is a revolution, anyway. If voting for a kindler, gentler piece of shit buys us some time and gives us even a chance in hell that we can avoid a bloody revolution, I'm going to do it. Doing so won't delay things for long. We may not be able to arrest the slide into fascism but I sure as hell am going to try before I give up and condemn me and mine to bloodshed and violence.

Also, the most deeply oppressed people do not revolt - you have to have hope in order to revolt. A kindler, gentler piece of shit could give people enough hope to fight.

... If it is a candidate we favour less we overlook our doubts and get their buttski in the WH then hold them to account once inside the door. I very much hope all candidates running adopt this mentality too and do all they can for the winning candidate, there is way too much at stake for any other option.

Even Clinton will get at least a few progressive issues taken care of (ending the war on science, blocking further attacks on reproductive rights, and appointing non-whackjobs in the judicial branch). That would leave us free to fight her on some of the others.

The fervor surrounding candidate favorites is fascinating to watch for me, especially since I don't live in a state that determines jack squat about the candidate. Honestly, there are somethings I like about all of them, and some things I dislike about all of them, including Kucinich. But none are as bad as even the "best" Republican candidates. I'm not certain we can survive as a nation with another Republican President and that is not hyperbole. From the dilution of the importance of science and education that is seemingly inherent in the Republicans to the nominations of the SCOTUS on down throughout the judicial branch, the idea of another Republican, especially in light of the current field of candidates, scares the hell out of me.

My ideal candidate would have a little bit from each of our candidates but that's my rose colored glasses talking. I wanted Gore to run but understand why he isn't. The world is his stage now. I hope our nominee takes advantage of advise from some of wise sages.

I don't like all of the back biting. It's not in my nature and I always want to know why the support instead of all of the boil on the buttocks of the world we are seeing and hearing now. I like Edwards, Dodd and some of the time Biden. I match Kuchinich is philosophy most of the time. At this point in my life, I think I would vote for Bozo as long as he/she was a good democrat.

Republican suck should be a banner.

59. Regardless I am voting Democrat
1) I admit I do not like Hillary, and although I liked Bill when he was in office, Hillary is not Bill Clinton!

2) I admit to ignorance in Obama's case so I can give no opinion one way or another about him, other then the fact Oprah wants him to win ( I am not a racist, but Oprah is just as bad as Howard Stern! If she did not have a book club I would bet Ms. Winfrey would be off the air!)

3) Edwards I like so I hope and pray he wins, warts and all.

4) If Ron Paul was the GOP candidate I would vote Republican, but he stands no chance sadly!

Those 4 points being said I will vote Democrat no matter which one wins. Romney scares me, Rudy (Mr. 9/11) scares me more, and I am not sorry, but a Southern Baptist preacher as President?

PLEASE!!!!!

I will bet anyone that if Huckabee wins, all history and science textbooks will be burned, and replaced with "creation friendly" books that teach Adam and Eve and the Earth is 6000 years old.

Anyone care to bet?

Oh just for the record, in October 2000 when I was a choir member at a church in my hometown I told another choir member I would not vote for Bush cause I knew if he won, we would be at war with Iraq before his first term was up!

Republicans either suck or they blow.
Either way, I don't want any of them in the White House come '09.
Once again, I will do my duty, and if I have to hold my nose to vote for some Democratic candidate that I do not like, I will do the thing FOR MY COUNTRY, and NOT vote for a Republican. Not for the presidency, not for Congress or for Senate, or for ANY office, because of what their party stands for.
For WE THE PEOPLE, we must do whatever we can to get the current Republican party out of our country. We can work on the Democratic party later. They are bad, but not as bad as the Republican party.

61. Based on positions on the issues
I recently tracked down and "took" a bunch of quizzes to match a person with their preferred candidate:

http://www.speakout.com/VoteMatch/senate2006.asp?quiz=2008
http://www.selectsmart.com/president/2008.html
http://glassbooth.org/
http://www.vajoe.com/candidate_calculator.html
http://www.usatoday.com/news/politics/election2008/candidate-match-game.htm

Some were better than others. My top candidate based on my ideology was consistently the same person (Kucinich). Of the other Democratic candidates, almost every one appeared in the top 3 or 4 at least once. No Democrat matched at less than 65%. Not a single Republican candidate matched at more than 35%.

Regardless of who gets the Democratic nomination (no matter how much I like or don't like him/her), the up to 35% of the issues that candidate and I do NOT agree on is still preferable to me than seeing someone I disagree with on least 65% and up to 90% of the issues get elected President.

I don't care if it is settling. I ALWAYS have to settle (even Kucinich doesn't match at 100% and in today's climate, someone who matches me at 100% couldn't get elected).

And while I like Kucinich enough, I don't think he has what it takes to win. So I'm going with Edwards.
