I think we're all fucked and it's our own dam fault......
I believe this is what most would call a rant.
I've been reading DU everyday for the last six years or so because I believe that it is a great place to find real news and for the most part great opinions.I don't pretend to be a writer or for that matter very smart.I'm a high school drop out that took and passed my G.E.D.so that I could go to work.
I now work at the university I should have gone to if I hadn't found everything in school so dam boring.
I never really payed attention to politics growing up even though it was my favorite subject in school and the only class I did well in(social studies in general).I always felt that if I knew what
was really going on in my name it would only open up a world of hurt and holy shit was I right about that.
When the SCOTUS installed Bush into office I could no longer turn my head and ignore an obvious theft
of an election. Then after 9/11 I started reading everything I could find almost to the point of obsession.I'd joke with my brother like in the Terminator series with the super computer defense shield."I Became Aware" and all the shit is going to hit the fan.Well the shit has been flying out of that fan now for many years and I don't see it stopping anytime soon.I voted for the first time in my life in 2004 just to see another election get stolen and now at age 45 I'm getting ready to vote in my second presidential election and I must tell You that I am completely confused by what I see going on .
Perhaps I'm naive, maybe I'm just stupid but it seems to me that we are getting ready to elect another president that is just going to be the pick of the best of two evils.Maybe not evils because thats a strong word but certainly not the person that would do the best things for the people and the planet.

It seems to me that we have a chance to elect someone that would end these fucking "wars" today.
It seems to me that we could elect someone that will fight the corporations and the insurance
companies to give us workers rights and not for profit health care.
It seems to me that we could elect a person that would hold this band of fucking criminals in our
government accountable so that there is at least a chance that this shit will stop in the future.
It seems to me that we could elect a president that will create a department of PEACE which we will
need if we ever want to stop global warming because we will never stop global warming without peace
and cooperation from everybody.
It seems to me that we could elect a president that will create a green administration that makes all the departments in government self sufficient and self sustainable. With the size of our government that's half the battle right there. On top of that,Helping to create technology that would
help make every home in America self powered and get everyone off the grid.
It seems to me that we could elect a president that will honor our treaties and trade policies around the world and if they are not fair would renegotiate them until they are fair for everyone.
It seems to me that we could elect a president that is not beholden to the very interests that keep us down.
It seems to me that we could elect a president that was right then,is right now and will be right in the future.
I could go on but You all know the arguments for Dennis Kucinich.

I will leave You with this last thought. For me Dennis gets it better than anyone else because he knows that we on this planet are all inner connected and inter dependent. What is good for the few is good for the many and what is good for the many is good for the few.
I'm not a religious person at all but it seems to me that the basic theme of religion is that our life on this planet is a test to see if we are worthy of an after life.

SHOULDN'T WE TRY TO PASS THE TEST?

My vote will go to Dennis Kucinich.

At least I'll be able to sleep at night knowing I voted for Peace and Justice.

2. I think you're doing the right thing.
Backing the guy you want, who you really believe in. The dumbest trap we can fall into now is to vote in the primaries on "electability" as defined by what the other guy will vote for, instead of who we will vote for. I too am a normal working class guy, there are many many like me and I support Kucinich.

11. Thanks...
I just had to get that off my chest.
Now I can go back into the shadows.
I just hate to think that we'll be here in two years bitching because we're still marching around the globe stealing other peoples resources and still wondering why things haven't gotten better.

Your views are shared by many here. Don't worry about the writing. I make lots of mistakes. I think what is said is more important than how its said. They have a spell check thing on the bottom of the posting box. I'd be lost without it.

Welcome to DU!

4. All of what you say is pretty much spot on,,,but the problem with Dennis is...
that his beliefs are not supported by ability. He does not have that gene that lets some people plan, organize, build and then wait for the opportune moment to set the plan into action. I really would like to have a Kucinich as a neighbor, open minded, fearless, humourous...he'd be a hoot, as they say in this region. Another 'failing' that Kucinich appears to have is also one that seems almost universal amongst his followers...unfounded optimism in the general intelligence of humans, they seem, despite eons of history and daily examples, unable to grasp that half of mankind is not much removed from the intellect of a common thug. That is a fatal error in judgement, one that has led to apathetic acceptance of such abominations as President George W. Cheney & Co.

6. The primaries are when those of us who are paying attention
tell the party the direction it needs to turn. This election is no different. Kucinich and Edwards are the two candidates with the most populist messages. This is when progressives need to vote for the populists to let the party we are out here and we're not buying their Wall Street dictated bullshit.

I hold no illusion that Kucinich will win, mainly because he doesn't know how to build a national organization. I hold little illusion that Edwards will win, simply because the Wall Street types will do whatever they can to destroy him (See: Dean scream). However, good showings by both these men will tell the party that they can't ignore the base forever and expect anything.

In fact, should the party make the great gains in both houses of Congress that I expect them to, I fully expect them to get tossed out on their arses in 2010 if the performance of the present Congress is duplicated. I also expect a Democrat in the White House to get the same treatment in 2012.

A party can't ignore its base forever on the theory that they have nowhere else to go. The problem over the past 38 years is that they've ignored the working class base, and that base has chosen two places to go: home on the couch or voting on the faint chance that tax cuts will make their lives better.

32. Neither is Clark
However, Edwards's rhetoric is pure progressive populist. I thought I made that clear in my post, that it was his rhetoric that progressives would respond to.

Remember, Clinton got 2 terms by campaigning as a progressive economic populist although he didn't govern that way, either.

A vote for progressive populism will send the party a message, and that's what we need to do in the primaries.

12. If we could elect a honest president and he tried to govern for what is best for the populous,
He'd be dead before much of anything could take affect. Heart attack, or some kind of unforeseen accident, or one of the "CIA"'s "Al quaita" assassins executing a contract.

We must be strong 'cause we is the worlds policeman don'tcha know, keeping the bad guy at bay, you know like the citizens of Iraq, iran and Afghanistan and other places that have oil and/or oil pipelines. Think south America here.
Can't be having any socialized health care or good paying jobs in this country either. Socialism is bad because with socialism they take your hard earned money and use it to help other people and how can we stand up and be strong if we have to help each other? :sarcasm:

17. We can have all of those things. It only takes voting for what you want.
Not what someone else thinks you should do. How many people have said they WANT DK, but think he's "unelectable" or "unknown" or "kooky" or "elf-like".

If DK isn't our nominee, it's because Dems are poisoned by the "keeping up with the Jones'" disease.
That is the only explanation of not voting for your beliefs.

Very well said. I, too will be voting for Dennis Kucinich in the Florida primaries. I voted for Dennis Kucinich in the 2004 Florida primaries, even though "they" told us that we already had our candidate chosen.

I, too, wanted to be able to sleep at night knowing that I voted for Peace.
