McCain still is broke and would have problems advertising nationally on Super Tuesday and Huckster seems to be imploding as fast as theocratically possible. Fred is dead and only the freepers still think he is the Republican savior.

Romney absolutely needed to win Michigan, but I wish it would have been closer owing to his present cockiness.

What formula results in the greatest Republican chaos?

30. I agree with that lineup. It's Thompson's turn to win, and let's bring Huckster back - briefly.

10. McCain is FORMIDABLE in a general election. You are quite correct in your assessment.
For some reason, he looks like a crazy old coot from a Peter Sellers film in the primary, but he gains gravitas and credibility when he stands alone.

It's illogical, but it is true.

If he wins the nom, he just might win the Presidency. That's not a good outcome...

9. Romney is ahead in delegates
If McCain looses he is out of the race.

A McCain loss will not help continue the Republican infighting.

to the casual observer compared to Huck

6. I agree. McCain is so hated by his party that it would just be hilarious
But given recent dirty tricks, I think the South Carolinians will go for Romney or Huckabee.

McCain is the greatest threat. Huckabee winning would be fun because that guy is an absolute loon. My nightmare Rethug ticket is a McCain/Huckabee.

That way, there's still no clear leader, and chaos reigns supreme among the repukes.

14. no, we want Huckabee or Romney (or both) to finish ahead of McCain
It creates far more chaos for Huckabee to do well. DC repub insiders privately view Huckabee as their "McGovern" candidate -- one who might lose nearly every state.

15. I think McCain may finish third?
Huckster first and Romney second, after his big win in Michigan. McCain's back will be against the wall after SC, in my opinion.

where they could pick some "consensus" candidate who would be mostly acceptable to all.

Romney would be the clear pick of the corporate interests.

A snake-oil salesman like Huckabee if he has the Mighty Slime Machine working for him would be difficult if not impossible to beat. No matter how crazy he is!

26. He's slick, but the repub insiders in DC are terrified at the thought of his being the nominee
They think he'd lose virtually every state with any significant population (in other words, he might carry a few bible belt states, utah (assuming that huck and romney have some big public hugfest so that the Mormons in Utah feel more comforatble with HUck given his attacks on their faith) and a few "wildnerness" states like Wyoming.

32. Huckster, then Mittens
Sure, all the 29%ers would vote for Huck but they'd vote for Jack teh Ripper if he had an (R) after his name. Huck's religious extremism scares the living shit out of most of the rest of teh country and Mittens isn't too far behind.
