Politization of the US Military by the Bush Junta. Generals as political tools?
In a true democracy, Generals are not political tools of a junta, mouthpieces for the dictator.
Or are they? Or, are we still a Democracy?

The Southern Command has a rich history of conflict with the left in Latin America.
Recent revelations indicate the US Southern Command was involved with Plan Condor.
Plan Condor was a group of Nazis without borders killing liberal opponents of military juntas.

Given those recent development and possible indictments, this article has unique context:

=======================
US fears links between Latin America, militants

WASHINGTON: A top US military commander said Wednesday he fears a “disastrous” linkup between drug traffickers and radical Islamists in Latin America, where he said Iran wields growing influence.

“I fear greatly that the connectivity between narcoterrorism and Islamic radical terrorism could be disastrous in this region,” Admiral James Stavridis, head of the US Southern Command, told a conference ... at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington.

Stavridis accompanied his comments with a photograph of Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad standing alongside Bolivian President Evo Morales.

“This gentleman is Mahmud Ahmadinejad, president of Iran, a state that sponsors terrorism,” he said pointing to the Iranian leader.

“He is a very dangerous man and he is in this area of the world,” the admiral said, adding that Iran had already opened 10 embassies in Latin America.

........

=======================
The Southern Command is where the US housed communications support for Plan Condor, where the School of the Americas taught torture, and where most of the officers in the military juntas operating the multinational death squads received training. What a study in political propaganda given the history Plan Condor and Southern Command's role in the region, to use the top US military commander of Southern Command to express concerns about terrorism.

Up is Down and Down is Up. Just keep repeating that long enough .... Propaganda has to be very deliberate and requires work. You have to dress up lies and repeat them often. You have to work with oppositions, reversing their poles. You must say, "Southern Command is concerned about violence" if they are the source of violence, you have to call the Sandinistas "terrorists" in order to overthrow their government, etc. We all know the drill.

BUT, wasn't there a day when the generals were not politicized? What is going on?
Do we have a Republican military service, a Bush military service, or a US military?

Is this a Junta or is this a Democracy? It sure barks like a Junta!
