Stock Market crashing in slooooooow motion.
It's true. If you watch the stock market from day-to-day, you can see and feel it happening. Over the last 12 months the market has lost, at least, 15% if not more. Does anyone remember when the Dow went over 14000 for the first time? It seems like 10 years ago now. Unlike Black Monday and Black Tuesday, today we have safety valves in place to... more »

2. Bush's "rebate" is kind of like going to those check advance places.
Edited on Fri Jan-18-08 12:22 PM by liberalmuse
You're essentially borrowing your own money and will have to pay it back w/scads of interest. I don't want his stinkin' rebate. Paul Krugman was right about everything. He knew what was going to happen as early as 5 years ago.

Okay, I don't actually know "everything" he said because of that pay to view thing at the NYT, but what I did read HE WAS RIGHT!

8. Amen, sister. I don't NEED his rebate, in fact, when I got my $300
I used it to pay my STATE income taxes.

Between my IRA and my 401-K, I don't need Uncle George's indian-giving rebate, at least on the federal level.

3. The DJI is likely to hit a long-term low below 12,000 - AFTER Junior's farts.
The Narcissistic Turd in the Offal Orifice opens his pie-hole and the bargains roll in for the "have's and the have-more's."

Watch - January and February unemployment will be awesome. :puke:

6. Here's some cash, now go shopping
It isn't like this is a windfall, it is a tax rebate. Its figured into the end of year tax rates so if you are getting a refund, it reduces the amount of the refund. Thats like Daddy Bush who changed the payroll tax tables so you would see more in your paycheck. Of course, the year end tax tables didn't change, so on a yearly basis it had a zero effect.

12. the big hurry is the Saudis laughed in his face
when he begged for a price cut. They told him he done screwed the pooch and would pay the consequences. They said they were looking forward to owning the US lock, stock, and barrel, as soon as the depression hit hard. They said just like when we had to change the name of the "Great War" to "WWI", we are going to have to call the Great Depression "GDI" 'cause GDII is a-comin. They finished with "got ya, sucker!"

13. But, they're like family!
I doubt they'd do anything to endanger the wealth of the BFEE.

The Sauds may cooperate with the BFEE in 'screwing the pooch' (e.g. the U.S. people) but they would never screw the Bushes. Remember, the Sauds got another big deal on weapons and their economy is in no danger.

11. if we were spending 350B
domestically generating growth instead of in Iraq basically setting fire to it the economy would be booming.

OK, some of it is domestic - paying inflated prices for MRAPs built in SC or MI DOES contribute to the economy. But it would be a whole lot better if less of the 350B were going into the pockets of corrupt Iraqi politicians and corrupt contractors with offshore accounts, and into building roads, bridges, schools, paying teachers more...

If somebody wants to help Michigan's economy, why the hell don't they order about a gazillion alternate-fuel transit busses and freaking GIVE them to the cities? THAT would reduce oil imports AND put people to work AND improve climate. Then spend some bucks building satellite parking and hiring drivers - gee, do ya think some homeless vets could be transit drivers?

buck fush buck fush buck fush

I want the last seven years back.
