Poll question: "The Clintons"
The media - and not surprisingly, as led by one Misogynist Matthews - uses this term with impunity.

I find the term offensive. It diminishes the candidate, who this time around is Hillary. Not Bill. It implies that Hillary is not viable on her own - not on substance, but rather, as a woman. It also infers some sort of conspiracy, as if they're a gang of thugs.

I know many of you support Hillary and that at least as many dislike her ..... often viscerally. For the sake of this poll, ***please*** put those feelings aside.

The poll format allows one to answer easily. That said, comments are always helpful.

(I am not a Hillary supporter and remain steadfastly uncommitted.)

2. I agree with you.
Hillary Rodham Clinton, like her or not, is not some June Cleaver, Donna Reed type. She is an accomplished woman on her own. I agree "The Clintons" is kind of offensive.

3. Hillary is the one who claims Bill's years in the White House as HER "experience"
And I seem to remember the term "co-president" being used often in the 1990's, and it wasn't coming from the Repukes. So referring to "The Clintons" as an entity is entirely appropriate, in my humble opinion.

4. Here's how I feel about it.

Hillary is running for president and she just happens to have a husband who was a very, very popular president. They have a choice to make. Either allow her to run her campaign on her own while Bill remains in the periphery for support, or Bill becomes an active campaigner for Hillary, muddying the waters with his very strong opinions and personality.

It seems lately, the latter decision has been made and I find it very unpleasant. She often refers to his record to bolster her experience. Makes me wonder if she does get elected, will she really make her own decisions? As much as I liked Bill Clinton when he was president, I don't want a co-presidency.

So the media takes what is put out there and runs with it.

6. It is completely sexist in one respect
BUT at the same time completely realistic - Bill Clinton was President - and I'm betting a large portion of her support is really for him...and the good old days - she would not be a viable Presidential candidate if she was not Hillary CLINTON - don't like it but its SO TRUE. Just like the freak in chief would never have been pResident had he not been papa Bush's son.

Let's say Barbara Boxer was running for President - "they" would not be saying the Boxers because nobody knows who the hell her husband is - it is realistic because the Clintons were a package when he was President and it would be foolish to think they're not a package now....

7. Bill Clinton is adored overseas and has huge support here as well....
imagine calling Barack and his wife the Obamas. Nobody cares who she is. She can't really help him as anyone but a cheerleader. They are really your typical political couple. The Clinton are a functioning team. You may not like their politics but I think it's a plus.
