When talking about poverty it would be nice if political candidates didn't

When talking about poverty it would be nice if political candidates didn't
separate US poverty from global poverty, or state that we have "fix things here first." You hear them state that it's a "moral" issue for them, yet they then want to prioritize their help based on what country someone is poor in.

And yes I understand that many Americans don't want to do anything to help "foreigners," but we don't have to pander to the ignorant.

1. say something stupid, because it takes a trainer to explain how
poverty works on a regional scale. Because they are stupid and care nothing toward helping the poor. Just shut up if you don't understand simple economics, better yet step aside. I don't want you as my next POTUS.

2. corruption is at the heart of poverty everywhere
not just here. Too many want to punish the poor for being poor. Not the big wigs who pull the rug out from under them just because they can.

3. I agree, but at the same time, there is a difference between American poverty and global...
it is a basic requirement of every government, imho, to provide a social safety net to protect all of its citizens. It's one of the reasons we pay taxes. Certainly, we should do everything within our power to fight global poverty, but providing for the basic needs of each and every American isn't just something we should do, it's something we must do.
